They made a 24' Funeral Coach in 1982

It looks very similar to a bus in the passenger compartment. In the rear there is space for more than one coffin. Look at the coffin loading doors in the sides at the rear as well as in the rear of the vehicle.

When I was researching our 1982 24' Airstream Motorhome, I found photos on Fred's Vintage trailer website of a funeral coach made in 1982. Airstream has no record of manufacturing a 24' motorhome in 1982 but they did and I have seen reports of at least two other ones. They must have been special orders....their brochure shows 28' and 31' that year and the service manual for 1982 has no information on the 24'. Paula

I work in Moab, UT on Saturdays about every 6 weeks or and usually count 8-10 on the way there or back every time. Being on I-70 alot in Western CO plus frequent trips down Hwy 50 & Hwy 82 I am hard pressed not to see several every week. Stopped and chatted with a guy at a gas station last Friday with a 1949 Curtis Wright, he showed me around it. I've seen it parked in a back yard a couple of miles from my house, along side another which he informed me is his 1950 SIlver Streak. I am lucky enough to see a lot of them out and about!

A bit of a stretch to call this a "sighting", but...

...I watch a video podcast called "iPad Today".

On the latest show, they reviewed an app called "airbnb" which can connect you to Bed and Breakfasts.

In scrolling around, Sarah, the cohost, stumbled upon this:

The dialog went something like:

Sarah: Do they still make those?

Leo: Yes. But I think the rounded aluminum ones are all classics.

Anyway, the episode can be seen here: iPad Today 196 | TWiT.TV

Relevant portion begins at about 10:40 in.

Drove my CampLite down to Buford, GA for service yesterday.

Came across two.

The first, along GA400, still for sale:

Clearly the banner and the sign differ greatly.

The second, on GA515 south of Blue Ridge, had a SOLD sign on it:

Happy to help if anyone is interested in the first, though I'm very new to all things Airstream.

Airstream sightings

Dropped my '69 TradeWind off at Out-Of-Doors Mart in Colfax, NC today. After looking at the price tag on a shiny new International, the old girl looked pretty good sitting there among her younger siblings. Loads of late models in for service and this little vintage polished beauty peeking out from the warehouse in the back.Click image for larger version

If you check Craig's List for Athens, Georgia, this 34 footer is listed for 16,300 in Dawsonville.

Saw 7 today! 2 1990's MH's on I 26 near Spartanburg SC, one going east passed me at about 75 mph, the other headed west. The rest were trailers on I-26, from the intersection of I-85 to the intersection of I-95.

Hey Alan, could have been some of us leaving the Region 3 WBCCI rally near Asheville. There were 130 or so there.

BTW, great rally.

This past Saturday I-26 east bound south of Hendersonville, NC. That's the best picture I could get on that section of road. I was lucky to get it all. Click image for larger version

United kingdom globetrotter

Few pictures of our last week trip in London UK where I found an 1964 Globetrotter used as a snack trailer just 2 foot steps from the London Bridge!

Saw two today.
A 34' trailer was parked at Waffle House in Brunswick, GA this morning as I was just getting on the road.
A 25'-28' trailer near Jacksonville on I-95 going south.

At least I know I'm not the only one to ever squeeze into a Waffle House parking lot while towing an Airstream!

HOW SAD; Last Thursday between Beaumont Texas and Martin Diaz SP I saw three Airstreams and a Argosy sitting in the long grass. They appeared not to have been moved in a long time. At 60 MPH it was hard to see if they had numbers or not. Two were triple axels.

If you read the ad you'll see they put all those random pictures of different interiors to sell you on the "limitless possibilities" which probably means the actual interior is a disaster and needs to be redone.

Don't know that this qualifies, but sitting in Oneal Dodge dealership in Bremen, Ga getting a recall done on our 2500, and saw this on the wall- introducing the "new 250hp 'Vigilante'V8 engine in a jeep wagoneer" and it was pulling an Airstream!Click image for larger version
