I 40 in North Carolina

Spotted today around Noon, between mile marker 105 and 68, heading west bound. There was a 60's looking, I think it was a Bambi, on a roll back truck. It was covered in dust and looked like it was dent free. Another one saved

Well today I thought our silver streak was going to end...you see, we have been on the Mass Turnpike for the last 5 or 6 straight weekends and I'll tell you what...New Englanders LOVE to use their Airstreams!!!

We have seen one every single weekend and today we got off the MA Pike without seeing one ...BUT...as we were going under the 84 south overpass in Sturbridge we saw what looked like a vintage Caravel being pulled by a silver old fashion milk truck! To cool...The high fives continue......

Not far from Mt. Carmel, we also spotted this wooden monster. It's not an Airstream, but I thought some might be interested in seeing the product of some creative person's handiwork.

Sightings!

Well folks, today I saw 2 Airstreams! Wahoo!

First one was behind a fence (not sure of the year, but vintage 60's I think... maybe about a 24 footer...) Just off Interstate 5 and the Grenada Exit located on the East of the freeway. It is sitting behind the fence at some sort of auto wreckers/repair place. Airconditioner on top.

Second Airstream was a 1978 Excella. We took our Bambi to the local "Deer Camp" today at Tennant, California to check up on the hunter types we know. Actually the group had a pot-luck today and we joined in the good eats. The picture is below with some of the hunters. They have been camping there for about a week and will be there maybe another week until the season is over for the area.

Flew to Denver Saturday, drove home via WY, UT, ID, OR, WA.

Almost 1400 miles, and I thought I was going to have to start a new thread:
"NO airstream sightings"

I was in southern Idaho before I saw the first one, it was parked next to a mobile home, visible from the freeway. A sovereign I think. (Hard to tell at 85mph!)
2nd one was in Oregon, a newer 24'ish? going the opposite direction on the freeway, just caught a glimpse.
3rd and final one, was a Caravel? WBCCI# 2039. Saw that one just east of Baker City, OR.
Plenty of SOB's on the road, but not very many streamers.

Airstream in the water

This may maybe the saddest sighting in a long time. We are having bad weather here in New Orleans, what else is new. Tornado watches since last night. One hit an area know as Leeville south of New Orleans. Several trailers overturned and a lot of wind damage a couple with minor injures. When the news showed the shot a 30 foot Vintage Airstream sitting in the bayou with water up to the lower window sill. Didn’t appear to have any dents.

This is horrible! Let's hope someone rescues it... and rennovates it! Maybe someone should market blow up water wings for trailers in the area...Ummmm what can we do for earthquakes???

Virginia sighting

We saw a pretty new AS, perhaps a 25' Safari heading North on I-81 in Virginia; they hailed from Texas. I spotted that shiny beauty about 1/4 mile back.

And speaking of sad, there are two vintage AS units near me. One of them is sitting in the middle of the yard on low ground. It has flooded there twice, right up to the top of the frame, just breaks my heart. I never looked at it up close but it looks to be perhaps a 60's Caravel. My husband asked them if they would sell it, and they said no as their son may want it. If he does, I wish that he would get it out of there...

The other is at my next doot neighbors, and I am working on them.

On a trip to Disneyland, I spotted this :

And a few nights ago on TLC, I saw a show, "Shalom in the Home", where a guy tows a new airstream to people's homes and counsels them. I watched it, just to see the airstream of course !

Currious, was this "inside" one of the shops in Disneyland or elsewhere?

BTW, I have watched that show for the Airstream exposure also...the therapist is pretty good, but I have enough problems without watching someone else's. However, I watched one show where a young widow in Florida with two daughters had trouble letting go of her late husband and it was a really good show.

sightings

On a trip to the big island of Hawaii in 2005, we stayed in an older Airstream permanently situated on property overlooking the Waipio Valley. Go to http://www.cyberrentals.com/USA/Hawa...aa/p100949.htm to see this extraordinary rental.

The airstream was located "inside" the store.. really it's just a storefront in the California side of Disneyland. It may have been being used by a band I saw nearby. I never thought I'd see one in Disneyland - cool!!

It may be this one which we saw last December in California Adventure which has all of the Airstream labels removed.

There are two in Disney's MGM Studios that are parked in single file and are used for dressing rooms for the characters. One is for Jo-Jo the Clown and is really "jazzed" up on the outside. The other is a little less character specific for a wider variety of characters.
