70s or 80s, 29 or 31' Airstream for sale along east side of US 281 between Blanco and Bulverde, TX. Didn't stop. Looked pretty good condition from the highway.

On a return trip from Florida last week end I saw one Circa 1970's Airstream TT's in a camp ground beside the interstate at exit #399 on I-75 on the north side of Gainesville and within an hour, I saw three more Airstream TT's headed south on I-75 including a recent Classic, a mid-80's Excella and a mid-20 footer Excella. Didn't see anymore on the trip, north or south bound. But I must have seen more than 100 SOB's, dozens of SOB motor homes and tons of class A busses.
I luv the small vintage models.
I spotted this one a couple weeks ago in a small village 50 miles from home. It appears to be an early 60's Globetrotter in very good condition. I couldn't locate the owners and the No Trespassing sign prohibited closer inspection but you can bet I'll be going out that way again. They probably don't want to part with it but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? The brown stuff over the window is dead leaves.

I too drive and seek A/Streams. In Colo on US Hwy 24 just east of Calhan on the r/side is a '70 era trailer. On US Hwy 160 between Pagosa Spgs and Durango on the r/ side are three AS's. As you look out of the D&SNG train as you chug along you can see a Silver Streak on the west side of Colo Hwy 550 and you can see another AS on the east side.

Wow now thats getting close. My 58 is is a barn on the east side of the tracks.
Was heading over to Bastrop from Elgin early Saturday afternoon down a rather narrow, hilly road when, coming over the hill towards me, a pickup pulling something whose shape was unmistakeable. It was what appeared to be a '61 Overlander, and it looked as though it hadn't seen the light of day for decades, nestled somewhere deep in the woods. Despite the layer of dirt and grime, as it whizzed past me, the skin looked to be in excellent condition. "No doubt," I thought to my self "whoever picked up this little jewel is a proud papa and intends to restore her to her original glory."
Little did I know at the time, however, that the proud new owner lives no less than right around the block from me!
First chance I get, I'll snap some photos, and if I have a chance to catch the owner, I'll see what the story behind her is. Maybe even get a few pics of the inside.

Reason: not a '64, but a '61!
The week of Nov 22 thru Dec 3, we passed at least 5 A/S. All headed South at various locations, mostly on the Eastern Shores...(Rt 13)
That was fun, waving like a fool out the window..lol

12/4/04 I saw an Excella headed south on I-85 about 11:30 AM just south of Heartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. It was a nice looking rig with its wide blue stripe down the side. It was stuck in the construction traffic just below Flat Shoals Road. I couldn't get a good look at the tow vehicle, though.
If you're a member of the forum, sorry about the traffic on the week ends. Looks like south bound I-85 is going to be pretty bad for a while, but the return trip should be ok.
On 3 Dec 04 at about 3:15 at the intersections of 1-70 / US Hwy 40 and Jefferson C.H.# 93 ( aka Morrison Rd ) I spotted a 70's era 21 - 23 ft being pulled by a same era White Sub. The driver did look at me as he passed for I was holding up seven digits motioning to myself. From the amount of snow on the top of the trailer I felt he must of been " real local ".
On the way to the Regional Christmas Party last Sunday (btw: Thank you to Region 7 for such a wonderful welcome to the Club!!!) My wife pointed out a "new" vintage '70's 25' TT addition sitting next to a house on the way. We spend too much time driving to Stillwater I have decided.
Knowing a contract employee that works for me lived in the area, I asked if he knew who lived there. I now have a name, and have know that the owner also works in the same division of our corporation. Small world, and maybe a new member!

This small want to be AS motorhome was seen parked in a parking lot in Kansas City. On the passenger side there was a data plate that read - PACER SS0405 AIRSTREAM Jackson Center Ohio. I stopped and got my camera out and as I was taking photos the following questions came to mind. Is this unit counted as one of the 60% of AS trailers still on the road. What happen to the trailer? Was it wrecked, did the tongue rust away, or did the owner worry about tongue weight, sway bars, or hitch and ball height. Then just decided to just put it on a truck instead. Oh well, who ever made this unit really did a nice job of mounting an old Airstream Trailer onto a old Camper Special Ford Pickup.
