Just spotted one on the weather channel report about Rapid City snowstorm. Reporter mentioned the Airstream by name.

lucky hillbilly trailer trash

whenever I am driving and see something shiny (or not) poking out from behind a barn or fence, my husband just sighs as he knows we have to stop and inquire/admire.

and same goes for many sightings in movies or tv shows. there is one theme I have noticed. anytime there is hillbillies or backwoods rednecks, they always seem to have some oxidized airstream in the background. I think it is not an accurate representation of us streamers. we are super cool, detail oriented, recyclers of north American history. and maybe sometimes with a few hillbilly tendencies...

I beg to differ with you we are all rednecks if you ask the English! I for one am a proud redneck with an airstream!

Airstream Sightings

Was able to visit the Texas Vintage Airstream Rally this weekend. I saw so many beautiful Airstreams - both vintage 'n newer models - words fail me. I really suggest any Airstream lover try to watch for this rally in 2015. It is defnately worth the drive.

Just came back from our first WBCCI meetup today. Went out later in the day and what's parked a couple of houses down? An Airstream, used as a wardrobe space for a film crew shooting a commercial. They've started following me home.

We have something like that going on here in Possum Holler. There's a new TV series coming out soon about zombies/vampires/slashers/Freddie Kruger look-alikes. Or something similarly cerebral. All they do is screw up the traffic and generally make a mess of things. I try to find a reason to blow the horn on the car whenever I get near them shooting. No coolness factor to these folks at all. Semi-trucks full of Hollyweird equipment (and associated strange, self-important people) all over the place.

Just to add to the madness, the town next door, Buzzard Gulch, is going to be the filming location for the next installment of "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" (Or is it Beavis and Butt-heads', latest, can't remember).

Everything I just typed is true, except the town names. I'm too danged embarrassed to tell you where we rally live.

Jim

We went to visit my parents in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia this weekend. We saw two on the way up on 75 and on 81, and on the way home we saw one right there in Staunton, Virginia and then one at a rest stop on 81 near Christiansburg-- an interstate. We met the wonderful owners--- Ruth and Pete from Maryland.

airstream on TV commerical Lexus

was watching CNBC this morning eastern time and during a Lexus commercial they show a SUV type pulling a 25ish footer in a couple scenes.

I guess some of the car companies are starting to see you can pull and AS with something besides a big hunking pickup truck

That is cool and shows the coolness factor of both lexus and airstream.

Recently back from big island and only saw one older SOB in the parker ranch area of hawai'i, beleive me with the fricken mountains you are always climbing i would hate to drag one around there.. but it would be cool to camp in at one at the summit of Mauna Kea up by the telescopes. It would be a bear getting it up there..

you would need a dozer to pull it up the steep gravel road..

Airstreaming in Paradise

carl2591,

We may have been on the big island at the same time. We got home Sunday. You're right, finding a travel trailer of any kind in Hawaii is rare...an Airstream even more so. That being said, look what we found off the beaten path just past Hawi on the most northern tip of the island.

That's the Pacific to the left. The Airstream was at least a 30 ft blue stripe and occupied.

I hope the photo comes through this is the first time I've tried a photo compression with this computer.

Roy

Drove all the way from Los Angeles to Jackson CA for the NorCal rally and didn't see a single Airstream until we pulled into the Rally site... Then I needed my sunglasses to protect my eyes from all the gleaming aluminum.

I THINK I know who's Argosy that is, and if I'm right, he's a member here. It'll be interesting to see if he checks this thread.

I **think** there was an Argosy picture there. I could be wrong since I don't do tweets or facebook stuff.
