I thought about posting this in a towing thread, but didn't want to start another towing debate
Just got my latest issue of Pop Science, and what do I see on page 11?

Interesting camper in the background, looks like an offroad Euclid end dump.

Thats a funny add. Of course if they really wanted to prove how much that truck could tow it would not have an Airstream hitched to it.

Vintage Rally Alameda
I skipped out on a camping trip on the Sacramento Delta for a little while to come back home and see the rally in Alameda. Sooo many nice, amazing trailers there, not all Airstreams, all super cool. I stayed for the slide show by Doug Keister and got my book autographed as well. Met some nice people (shocker). Rather than upload all my pictures, you can visit my flickr page below and find the Alameda Airstream Rally in my sets of pictures.
Enjoy, I sure did!!

Pinkflamingoes, what was the ralley in Alemedo? I noticed a lot of Airstreams competitors from long ago in the photos. I especially like the little red job in photo #3.

Hi Minnie's Mate,
There is a company called Antiques By The Bay that holds huge antique swaps on the runway of the former Alameda Naval Airstation. Every year they have one just for vintage cars and motorcycles, and this year they added vingate trailers, so it was open to all trailers. I couldn't resist all that aluminum being in my town and not going to see it! And I got a tee shirt!

I bet that was facinating to see all of those vintage trailers and compare them to AS's. Did you get to tour any of them?

Airstreams on Highway 101
I have a second story view of Highway 101 along the Klamath River from my office. During the summer, it is common to see several Airstreams driving down Highway 101 in one day. It is always fun to catch a caravan of them heading to a rally.

Yes I did! A lot of them had beautiful wood interiors. I didn't have enough time to take pictures and/or note the make or year, but there were quite a few that were restored to original (with maybe a coat of interior paint of a new color and new upholstery material, etc.) and those were really nice. I didn't see any that were remodeled, and some I didn't go inside. I was in a hurry both days, and Sunday when the trailers were open for viewing I got there at 12:45 and had to leave to be at an event at 2 pm.
I'm going to post this and upload the Sunday pictures to my account, so check it again in a few!!

Saw that episode, too, and my mind immediately started trying to figure out the easiest way to make an Airstream one like the artist in Canada makes. But then I realized...my cocker spaniel is a house dog and doesn't need a dog house!

Bummer!!
With a 2006 Airstream you need something to work on...scratch that one off the list. Or get an outside dog? Build it for your husband when he's in trouble?

If you are talking to me, Minnie's Mate is Mickey Mouse. That is the alias I also use on a Disney forum. I am the happily married father of two wonderful boys with a cocker spaniel named "Sulley" after James P. Sullivan from Monsters, Inc. If you check out my signature line, you will see that we are a "Family of Disney Fanatics".
I do occasionally wind up in the dog house, but I have a big shiney silver dog house to sleep in when I do.

Spotted one
10:30am today on I 5 North in the Newhall pass. '70's 25 footer being pulled by an 80's Chev. pickup. Both well used and still on the road.

Of course. I wasn't thinking, as usual. So looks like you can scrap the doghouse idea, as you have the real deal to happily go to, when Mickey's Mate sends you there...however I'm guessing Mickey doesn't end up in the doghouse. He's just that kind of mouse.

It's a common mistake. You'd be surprised how much "girl talk" I get into on my Disney forum because of it.
And you'd be surprised how often this Mickey gets in the dog house! My Minnie has quiet a temper. I've started calling her "Princess Diva". She has a good sence of humor and thinks it's a hoot when I do. Smooth things out alot of the time ...alot of the time it doesn't, though.

sightings
Just drove from Montana to Texas this weekend (to retrieve a car for my daughter) and to my surprise saw a late model 25' in a roadside campground in southern WY, an older 34' going West on 287 in the TX panhandle and a brand spanking new 28', perhaps SO, in a gas station near Amarillo...whew, three sightings in one trip!

On route 260 between Woods Canyon Lake and Payson, AZ, spotted a newer unit headed east. We blinked and waved!

Is it just me?
Hello all -
See the big Aluminum tubes all the time on I40 going into/ out of ALBQ all the time.... That being said I have only been acknowledged twice out of about 50 or sightings.
I usually flash the lights and wave when even with the TV. Most everyone is oblivious of me and my aluminum 'thing'....Did they even see me?!
This also applies to when I am pulling SilverToy. The other folks either aren't looking or don't seem to care. This was especially puzzling when we were on I10 headed into AZ from NM and saw 3 units pulling together and none seemed to look up from the road ahead. Odd.
How is that you folks 'signal' to other AS's?? Do you 'signal' differently when your AS isn't on the bumper??
Axel
