Hmmm... don't think he was a "hobo". Since he's living in it, doesn't that make it his home? So he's not a homeless vagabond, just a plain old vagabond.

He is a self proclaimed "Airstream Hobo" and a clown as well.

We were at Weiss Lake in Cherokee County Alabama this weekend & saw three airstreams. The two together look like they have been there for years, but the AS sitting by itself has just been there a few months.

Saw two today on
I80 eastbound in Iowa. One about a 19 footer pulled by an white Acura MDX. The other I just caught out of the corner of my eye during a driving rainstorm. In the rear view, it looked like a mid 90s 30' excella.

We saw 3 today on the way back from CO! On I70 WB a triple axel with a burgundy stripe, a newer B Van and an older 50s 24'. None yesterday

A wonderful sight.
I85 south bound on Sunday. Airstream being towed by a silver van. No picture as we were going in the other direction.

Airstream sightings

I did a double-take this afternoon while driving in Marion, IL. While turning onto the frontage road to Plaza Tire Service, I noticed a trailer that I first thought was an Airstream. Upon a longer gaze, it became apparent that it was an Argosy that had been painted silver . . . the first hint was the front galvanized steel dome and then the Argosy tail light panel in the rear. This was on IL 13 in Marion, IL.

I always get the feeling they are crying as the rust drips down the side of the trailer.

We saw an Airstream today on Hwy 101 in Oregon. She had a burgundy stripe (according to Shawn). We exchanged waves.

This Labor Day weekend we went to Lake Chacuma 24 miles north east of Santa Barbara. There were 3 Airstreams here, a new 2010 28' Safari, our 2009 27' FB Ocean Breeze, and a new 2010 25' FB International. Great weekend and fun people.

There is a small airstream (maybe a Bambi) on a storage lot in Mechanicsburg,Pa. We see it each time we are in town.
Today, Sunday, we saw a larger airstream heading south on I83. It had guards on the front corners. Very nice looking!

Must have been some pretty boring scenery to resort to counting 104 RV's.

Not really, just repeat scenery since we'd traveled the road earlier in the day to get to the Oregon Caves. Besides there were just so many of them to catch your attention. They came in groups of 3-6 every minute or so... crazy.

Door In a Door

Spotted today headed west on hwy 74 going thru Kings Mtn, NC. 60's style windows, 3 in a row on street side, 13 panel rear, door in a door, single axle 20ish feet long being towed by a UHaul box type truck. Believe it had an OHIO tag on it. Looked like she might have been sitting out somewhere for quite a long time but the body was not dented up.

Possibly on the way to a new home to be refurbished, I sure do hope so.

We made our way to Top of Georgia near Helen and found a little slice of AS heaven, there must be 50 trailers here. Worth a stop!
