Guess I don't know just what this trailer is yet. Haven't gotten it home to check out much. The metal plate on the side says 26.......2180 Made in I think Norwalk, California. All it says is International on the name plate, but it has the globes on the front and the back. I'm sure someone on here knows a lot more about these old 50's trailers than I do. The seller says it's a 58, but I'll wait till I see the Title.
I came across this homemade 5th wheel Airstream quite a few years ago. This is my first attempt posting with an attachment so I don't know if it will work.If it does,I apologize for the poor picture quality as it was taken 20 years ago.
Found this old trailer down by the lake. Being used as a tool storage unit. Guy doesn't really want to sell it; however, he thinks it is a 1948 model. I know it's not a 48, but I don't know what it is. Says Ambassador on the side. This is as close as I could get. What is it?
Wow! Hard To Say From That Distance. The Window To The Right Of The Door Kind Of Rules Out The 66',67',68' Models Though. It Looks Earlier Than That. Perhaps Some One Can Say Better But My Guess Would Be A 58' Overlander. Wish We Could Get A Better Look At It. (curiosity Killed The Cat Though) Ed
I'd have to say '60 or newer as the Airstream nameplate is above the window, if that's what is showing up there. All 1959's and older are below the window. Narrowing the field down abit.

I'd say it is between 1960 and 1963. The wide spaced tail lamps make it a California built trailer. If I could see the wheel well openings I could narrow it down further - if pointy topped it is 1960 or 61 and if flat topped it is 1962 or 63. Obviously if you could get the Serial Number off the plate near the door, we could zero in precisely on the year.
My guess is a 55 safari...not quite as big as a 53 flying cloud...found this 2 minutes down the road from my house with vines climbing all over it! Verrrry
interesting indeed......I am becoming quite the AS slueth
Are those things either side of the window shutters? What do you think? Ed
Ed,
No, they are side hinged windows like this. This is the view from inside.

I think that three section front window was generally used from the early 50's thru about 1954 or 55. From the angle of the photo is is hard to tell how long it is, but I'd guess one of the shorter lengths, maybe 18' or 22'. That could make it a Wanderer (18') or a Safari or Flying Cloud (both 22'). Of course if it were a little longer, say 25', it would be a Cruiser. Or if shorter, it could be a 16' Bubble, but I doubt that. Without a better photo showing the window configuration or other details I can't really hazard a guess beyond that it is probably between 1950 and 55 and may possibly be a 22' Safari or Flying Cloud.
However, if you should ever find out is is for sale, let us know.
