airstream photos
This question may have been already answered, but I couldn't find any references on the search command, but why can't I pull up the AirstreamPhotos.com page? I get a error message everytime I click on it.

The photo site is down at this time and in the process of being moved to a new server. We as a whole are attaching single pics in our posts as these are still coming through. We'll have to wait until the photo site is re-established to be able to view existing pics and upload quantities as well.

I've heard this before..
My question is..IF it's a matter of cost that's holding it up, I'm sure that with over 3,000 members now..We could all chip in some money to help pay for a new server. Any thoughts?
Unless...dread thoughts...
Could it be??
The photos were lost in that last surge~!~!~
Let's see what can be done to get this back on line..
I, for one, sure miss this valuable service..
ciao

If wanted...
I can always setup a storage area on my website for anyone desiring to post and share photos. I run on a .NET platform - but have well over 300 gigs of storage on my DB machine for storage. I can even give it the same look and feel as the old one. For example of the photo gallery layout - http://wbcb.com/photogroup/default.aspx
If I can help then PM me - will be glad to donate the help / space as I have found this resource so beneficial.

I may be letting the cat out of the bag, But want to let you know what is happening behind the curtain.
Money does not seem to be the issue. Per Andy, it is the time involved. The pictures are safe, but the volume of data is huge.
At this time the master plan is to move the picture site and the forum to a more robust server. It currently resides on a small server that we outgrew at 1500 members. That is why there are sometimes slowdowns.
The picture site is being reinstalled with the newest version of the hosting software. There is also a newer version of the forum software. To maintain integration of the two sites they both need to be on the same versions (newer) than we were (are) running. Add to that the quantity of forum hacks we did to make the system user friendly and the conversion of said hacks so that the members have a recogizable interface that is just as easy to use in the future as it is today, including karma, etc. and you begin to see the issue. Andy has been working with the forum software developer on a conversion process and will be posting a message as to forum downtime for the move. Once the forum has been moved/upgraded the picture links and all the stored photos will be back.
BTW tho old photo software was giving us problems on a regular basis and we never really were able to get them resolved, so the upgrade is a real necessary issue.

Photo suggestion
Until the new photo site is up and running, members might want to use a free photo sharing site such as YAHOO.
If you upload your photos there, then enter the URL (address) in your profile as your homepage, other members can view your photos by clicking on the 'www' button at the bottom of your posts.
This of course would only apply to those who don't already have a homepage.
It's an easy way to share photos and it's free.
Works for me.
BTW Jodynjeep, it's very generous of you to volunteer your time and resources.

Great news! Thanks again for your hard work. As a reward, we'll bestow upon you your requested twenty-eight hour day, and we don't even need to use PayPal!
Always remember... be careful what you wish for as it might come true!

I'll honor your request of a couple of extra hours a day. It will be well worth it to get the photos section up and running again. Thanks for the great news Andy. We're all holding our blazing lighters in the air because - you rock ! !

The photo site is up (kind of)... Once your ISP's DNS updates, you can see it, keep checking over the next 24 hours.

I can certainly appreciate the effort you've placed in this forum, Andy!
Having learned some HTML myself, I know how time consuming that can be. I don’t have the expertise or ability to accomplish what you have created on this forum, especially if you coded everything by hand.
Great job THANKS!
p.s. I really enjoyed the random thumb nail pictures on the side of the main page the way you had them before!

One question??
Hey Andy - I have just noticed that some pictures on some of the forum threads have gone haywire!! Example: a post that I started called THE Argosy Picture has several pictures (including the Argosy pic that Shari helped me post) all messed up, but further down in the post another pic is just fine. What's up with that?? and can it be fixed or will those pics have to be deleted and reposted. Hope I haven't added a new headache to your list, but hate to lose info and entertainment in any of these informative threads!!!! Hope to hear about it soon, thanks.
I just thought of a 2nd ?? (hope it won't cost me!!) Can I move a picture that I posted to a thread (back in 02) to the photo gallery? I can't remember if it was in the gallery, but found it on a thread and noticed when I right-click my mouse it gives me a "copy" option. Can I use that to get it into the Members Photo Gallery?
Leigh
PS Maybe it is just happening temporarily, I notice the "Smiles" look a little wierd on my screen too?

Hi Leigh
It appears that some of the previously posted photos got corrupted during the transition. Not much can be done about that other than posting new ones.
To copy a photo, right click on it and choose either "copy" or "save picture as", then paste it or save it to whatever folder you keep your pics in. Hope this helps.
