It was great to meet Vic and his wife. Vic your trailer is really sharp.

Unfortunately there were only 3 trailers there. Vic's, a new Bambi from the local dealer and and a 60's Safari. I talked to the person responsible for the show and was told that she couldn't find any anyone who could get some Airstreams there. According to her she went to the WBCCI web site and sent some emails. Unfortunately no one answered them.

Oh well she knows me now and if they every do this again (doubtful) I think we can make this a real event. There are lots of us in the metro area who would bring their units out to something like this.

As soon as I get some time, I'll post some pictures.

Well it looks like yours truly has made the airwaves. The local PBS station was there and I was one of those interviewed for the broadcast. It apparently aired on Monday on a weekly feature program called Living in St. Louis. I got razzed by a couple of folks who asked for my autograph at work Tuesday morning.

For those of you who pick up KETC-TV channel 9, it will be rebroadcast Sunday, probably beginning at 4:30 PM. Those of you not in the local area, the station archives all the programs to their web site. As soon as that link is posted, I'll pass it on. From what I heard it ended up being an interesting feature.

According to those who saw the program, the editors left in a comment from me to a question that was put forth "Why Airstream"?....and after I went though all the things about Airstreams that answered the question (that maybe never made the airwaves), Jack with his still teenage brain states, "and they have a coolness factor!".....so much for the maturity and wisdom of a 57 year old.

Stay tuned.....

Well I saw the rebroadcast today and it didn't turn out too bad. I recorded it on my PVR so I'll put it on DVD. Something else to bring to a future forum rally.

Here's some snapshots of the event complete with forum member Vic and his wife. Interesting story that Vic's trailer wasn't part of the planned event. He stopped by on his way back from the International Rally in Springfield Mo. and volunteered his unit.

Well they finally posted an 8 minute segment regarding this show on the local PBS web site. A few interesting old Airstream ads and a couple of appearances by yours truly.

Yea, they asked me lots of questions, had no idea of what they were going to use. Love that tow of the Airstream behing the Chevy on the dusty lot. I kept thinking about all the stuff inside my trailer as it skids from side to side. I would have loved to see that shot of the car and trailer going up the hill to see what happend to the trailer. If you notice that car's front suspension was almost fully extended when it hit that hill top. I hope that hitch held.

Jack

Wasn't that Jack was doing the Dukes of Hazzard manuvers with the Airstream in tow? No wonder he upgraded to a 3/4 ton.

Nice video Jack!

Glad you did!
This was a locally done production and I think the folks here in STL did a pretty good job on the segment. For those interested in things either STL oriented or about STL, the station site has a great video archive available for viewing. Here is the link to that site. It will list the link to the Airstream production along with a wealth of other topics.

Great video...I was hoping to be able to save it my hard drive, but alas! However, I did notice one mistake....at about the 6:30 mark, the narrarator talks about the caravans and how Wally Byam launched one that went around the globe in 1964.......Didn't he pass away in 1962?
