Airstream Forums Park
So this really really crazy idea popped into my head (that happens alot to me... ), with all the various things, politics, and other heavy topics being floated around, I was wondering if an Airstream Park owned and managed by forum members could fly?
What would it look like? Any rules? Really good WIFI! Full stocked open bar. Cool kids area, One quite side, one party side. A maintanince shop with a really good set of tools, volunteers, and supplies. Maybe a airstream graveyard for scavaging.
Of course this needs to be in Northern Ohio. Maybe on Lake Erie.
Whats the lotto up to?
I gotta get more sleep.

Hey, if you want to buy this one, we're hankering to retire while retiring's still possible!
Just kidding! But Maria's recent accident (a fall right on top of the tractor snow blade) along with a back problem on my part did leave us both crippled at exactly the same time. It was a bit of a wake-up call, so we're thinking even more seriously about shutting this place down for winters and spending weeks on end in some warmer place!

Hey, I've got a 2 acre vacant lot here in Florida we can start on. Probably fit 10 sites or so on it. It is a bit secluded.
It is close to an Airstream Dealer.
It is close to an RV salvage yard.
Lots of recreational activity close by. (Florida fresh water springs, 1 hour to fantastic fishing on the Gulf of Mexico)
It is just off I-75, on the way to Ocala, Tampa, St. Pete, Sarasota, Ft. Meyers, Naples, Marco Island, etc.
2 hours to Disney in Orlando.
Start sending money and I will begin construction on the pads, plumbing and electrical.

I want in. Maybe not Northern Ohio I already am in Southern Michigan with a 5 acre camp site. But Florida or somewhere with mild winters, now you're talking! Pick I'd stay self contained on your vacant property.

That is a superb idea. No doubt you have figured out that there are tons of places to boondock, or nearly boondock the winter away for next to nothing.

I would think the whole town of Angel Fire should shut down in winter, one of the coldest places I`ve been. I will have to vote on Fl.When I finally retire I`ll be selling my house here and living in Ohio in the summer, but when that first snow flake falls I should be south of Atlanta on I-75.So I must vote on Fl..Dave

Ft. Davis, TX... no snow (to speak of... usually gone by 3PM the following day - civilized), no hurricanes, no earthquakes, spaceport nearby, McDonald Observatory right there, Marfa close by for the hippity-hip inclined... and land that's real cheap.
'Course, have to locate areas where trees are taller than men... but the mountains certainly are...

Yeah, we all enjoy a good laff!
. . . but on a more serious note, don't you wonder why anybody lives in Minnesota?
1. I enjoy sitting in front of a warm fire watching the snow fall.
2. We have four seasons. Florida has HOT!
3. We don't have hurricanes, earthquakes, or alligators.

That sounds appealing, but I tend to get bored. What I've been thinking is selling myself off as a propane filler at some Arizona campground or another in exchange for free rent. (My dad claims that licensed fillers are in short supply among snowbirds.) Or maybe working at a state or national park/monument for a few days a week.

All excellent ideas. You would ROCK as a campground host or better yet as interpretive staff at one of the national parks. I know I have started earlier than most with the traveling thing, but I don't see how you are going to go wrong getting out and rotating the tires on your airstream.

Oh, I suspect they'd want better informed folks that moi as interpretive staff. Probably wind up selling trinkets at a gift shop or cleaning bathrooms. As long as it doesn't involve sitting on a tractor to push show four days a week, I think I'd be happy!
