Thumbs up I can almost hear the power tools and smell the sawdust ...

Great pics and tour, Eric.

Looks like I will have to visit the factory when ever I make it back to Ohio.

Not at all...I just had these huge images in my mind...the factory itself is huge and lots of activity, the campus is actually broken down into more than one building which my thought was that it was all one, but not any less interesting!

Thanks David, I am glad that you enjoyed the photos...in all honesty though, I could have posted hundreds of photos and the same as with the coaches, the photos just don't do it all the justice it really deserves!

Someday I'll have to take the tour again. I took lots of pictures and also took the video cam. My biggest problem was I spent so much time shooting pictures, I failed to absorb everything that was going on around me. So my vision of the factory was what was through the lens....and there is so much more to see.

nds...about the factory tours...

Silvertwinkie...great photos and recap of the tour! AA+++

nds...to answer your question, I believe the factory has a tour every weekday starting in the early afternoon. Just give them a call to check on the exact times. They also have a great little store with way too many Airstream goodies including lots of parts. We stopped at the factory a few months back while traveling to Michigan to pick up a few items we needed. Just as we walked up to the front desk...the bottom half of an Airstream (way cool!), an older gentlemen literally grabbed us and told us to "come on and take the tour!". We hadn't planned on it but are certainly glad we did. Turns out the gentlemen conducting the tour was a long time, semi-retired employee of Airstream and is extremely knowledgeable about all the units, especially the "vintage" units! I apologize for not remembering his name. We were caught completely off guard about the tour and didn't have a camera! It's well worth your time. I really wanted to get into their yard with all the vintage units...including the "gold" unit owned by Wally...unfortunately, it was off limits to us tourists!

Cool Wow, that was GREAT!

Thanks so much for posting the tour. We only live a short distance from the plant, so we really do need to get ourselves up there one day. I really enjoyed the pictures!

Cherie,

Do me a favor and go up there NOW. Check on my trailer for me, would you?

This wait is killing me! Especially after seeing Eric's great pics.

Eric--Great pics. A couple of comments--I can agree with your remark"not quite what I expected" ,same here. We took the tour last Fall & it was a very interesting tour, to say the least. I had all sorts of images of the plant & what to expect, b/4 the tour. Wasn't like that at all. I can't explain, except to say it was something like a fire drill, except the workers seem to know what to do & what was going on & what to do next. Everyone we met was incredibly friendly & went to some lenghts to explain thier part in the process. I sometimes wish I hadn't taken a camera as it was hard to look about & try to take the pics. Guess we'll just have to take another tour. Thanks again for the "tour" & I hope they find -which I'm sure they will-the cause of the water
Merry Xmas,

Eric--If I remember correctly, Don told us that the "Rib Joint" was across the street from the main plant. "Rib Joint" as in A/S, not Famous Dave's. This was also the place where I think they were going to build the A/S motorhomes.
Merry Xmas,

Porky , I know it can be exspensive on short notice to buy airline tickets and we all know the new trailer is a major investment but You really should tour factory while Your unit in construction. I was able to see my unit on the line and take pictures pre water test. It is something to remember as part of the whole new trailer experience. The Factory is very accomadating , they knew where my unit would be on the line offered to spend extra time with us ect. Please go You wont regret it , it will become part of trailers history with You.

Does anyone know what the 5 stars mean in the upper right at the top of the page?

Hi Eric.

Man, you've been busy...when do you sleep? Glad you got your new AS and from the sound of it, the dealer and AS are taking good care of you. As far as the moisture on the upholstery, maybe it would be easier for AS to just replace the sauced furniture. From the looks of the trailer, looks really nice, of course you are now the list's QCC! (Quality Control Corespondent).
And to all of you who just got your new trailers....congrats.

Pam and I did the tour last March on our aniversary. Unfortunatly, I lost my eyeglasses while visiting the Cincinatti Zoo. Pam had to drive the rest of the trip, and I was seeing the factory tour a little blurry. There were about ten to twelve of us on that tour with Don A.

Without question, the "gold" Byam TT should be indoors, safe from the elements, but easily veiwable for us "tourists".

When all is said and done PM me with the details of your shopping experience with the "dealer".

Love and kisses.

Jonathan

Well, considering how highly we regard our fellow Airstreamers and their vastly superior taste in modes of travel, I think the signoff "love and kisses" fits the bill perfectly.

Snuggles and smoochies to you, 53 'Cloud!
