Airstream Community in Texas Rio Grande Valley

Hello to all, I am looking for other Airstreams enthusiasts in my new neighborhood and in particular someone to solder a copper water pipe so I may have running water. Any leads or suggestions? Mine is a '69 OverLander.

I think you've got a pretty active WBCCI unit in your area, that's a great place to start. I know there's quite a few from central Texas here as well. A good plumber should be able to take care of that water line for you if you don't get any takers in a reasonable timeframe. Welcome to active posting (saw you joined in 2013), and stay dry over there!

Dave

If your location information "SA, Texas" means San Antonio, then the Texas Alamo Unit of WBCCI/WBAC is closest.

So I guess the hurricane is a "Harvey Wallbanger"?

Have you tried a local licensed plumber? They do this simple job on a daily basis.

If SA is San Antonio, I know several people around who would be more than happy to solder some copper. Let us know.

Just a note on the copper pipe used in some older Airstreams. It may be copper refrigeration pipe not plumbing pipe. The diameters are different. My 77 has refrigeration pipe and came with a broken pipe. Nothing at the hardware stores was the right size, but, I was able to find the appropriate splice at a refrigeration supply house. Once you find the right parts, they all solder together the same way.

One thing to be aware of is that if the pipe needing solder was ever frozen new fittings might not fit onto it because it got expanded.

Winter Texans & Airstreamers Rio Grande Valley

Is there an informal Airstream Group that meets once in a while in the Rio Grande Valley? We're Airstreamers here for the winter and would like to meet them.
