Could be worse Devo. My inlaws and extended family live in New Orleans. They grabbed everything they could and got out to Lafayette. They may not be able to go back for weeks.

Hurricane
Wow ... I know the people are gonna have it really bad there.I am thinking that there will be nothing after this thing is over with.We are supposed to get 60+mph winds here. Now the beach is blown all out and the tidal surge is really high so no more going to the beach for a couple of days.I expect the beach to be messed up here and all the beach renurishment that they were doing is pretty much gone as well.I remember when Opal came through and i was not able to go back to my house for a week and a half. That was really hard.I had to show identification and get a pass to get there when they finally let us go to our homes. It is really gonna be very hard when they can not ever go back to there homes again for a long time. Not to be rude or anything but i have a feeling that since someof the people are staying,There might be quite a few deaths from this storm.

The campground at Port O' Call in Melborne and a 4 point tie down. The chains crossed in the front and in the rear to anchor points embedded in the concrete. Anything more than a marginal cat 3 will see AS tail lights heading nortwest. Being on the coast just north of Hatteras and nags head we've seen enough of them to know not to be too brave. In 60 years I have never left home but we have never experienced an Andrew, Hugo or Camille and don't care to. Isabelle only had 90 mph winds here but it did a lot of damage.

I think Mother Nature is trying to help raise gas prices...
There are a lot of oil rigs in that part of the Gulf, as well as refineries, and transloading facilities. It will make recovery even that much harder, having to ship in gas and diesel to the victims, as well as watching gas prices go up another 30 or so cents a gallon. This storm will obviously affect people a thousand miles away and more, not to mention the victims of the storm itself.

I have been giving some thought to the Airstream in the Hurricane situation...I know thoughting is a dangerous process How about buiding a turntable, with an aerodynamic removable nose on it. You tow the AS onto the turn table install the nose protection and let er ride. As an added bonus you will have the best looking weather vane out there

And if it's blown away, you'll know you had some wind. Hey, not only a weathervane, but a rudimentary wind speed gauge, too! I like it!

Airstream and Strong Winds
Apparently, I spoke to soon -- fired up my A/C today to dehumidify the trailer and it rained all over the floor. Can't tell if the wind from the hurricane shifted the A/C around so much that the gaskets are deformed or if the drain line just came unhorsed...
Bringing it to the dealer Friday as I just don't have time to play with it.

Trash can get into the drippan and cause a back-up as well as insects, mud daubbers, will build a nest inside the drip line.
