Since I have a 3/4 ton truck, does that mean I need a 3/4 ton generator?
Can I use a 1/2 ton generator with my 3/4 ton truck if I use lighter WD bars?

Ken

I'm glad this has been brought up and as usual I am here to help (long ago I worked for the government and that's where I learned to help).

For safe and convenient boondocking nothing beats multiple back up generators so that you will always be able to power your air conditioners, microwaves, subwoofers and all the Christmas lights and electric flamingos your heart desires. They will also power water filtration and desalinization plants. Your will be able to use a high tension electric fence for your safety and power particle beam weapons to fend off attackers. It will require a somewhat larger truck (I understand some of you are contentious and may not agree, preferring a Geo Metro). The first photo shows the array necessary for complete enjoyment of the wilderness. You will have to direct a nearby river through these units.

For those will lesser needs, the handy yellow item shown in the 2nd photo may suffice (it is a bit larger in real life). You will need some extra fuel. Something along the lines of a Peterbilt may be necessary except, of course, in Canada where a snowmobile will work fine.

Hi, Gene. I'm curious if these generators are quiet enough for most campgrounds. I don't like being kicked out.

Bob, while best for boondocking, the particle beam weapons should solve any problem at a campground including actually having to pay for your 40 sites. They are also useful in heavy traffic.

And if you order on Amazon, free shipping!

I'm shocked nobody else has included the discussions between boondocking a few miles off the Interstate versus enjoying the civilized benefits of Good KOA Sam Trails RV Parks... Whether living for years at a time off the grid, or whining that the Hot Tub is too far away, or the swimming pool is too small, that is always fun...

And also missing is the debate about how much air conditioning is enough... Apparently western Washington needs very little, and eastern Arkansas requires more than Airstream can build into a trailer...

Great thread, and glad folks can agree, especially when they're wrong...

The big hydroelectric generators are quieter by a dam site.

Hi,

Real boon docking versus camping in Wal-Mart parking lot.

My trailer need AC about as much as it needs a doorbell (which I've heard some AS have)

Some of the Wal Marts I have seen, have creatures scarier than any wilderness.
