**Acronyms and Abbreviations**
I noticed that many people use acronyms in describing their projects or just in some of the postings they use them for short cuts. Most of them I recognize but a few I don't.
I’ve noticed that there have been several times when someone would ask the question what “S.O.B.” stands for! (Some Other Brand)
Well I would personally like to see an index page that would list these.
Just a suggestion!

DH and DW
I always wondered what these mean. Often seen as DH had done this or DW said...
I assume H = Husband and W= Wife, but D = ?

Many terms are generic to online discussion groups (as in Porky Pig's post). You can Google the answer -- and get zillions of possibilities for such common terms. I try to get sophisticated in coming up with search words but that doesn't always cut through the WorldWideWeb. www.askjeeves.com lets you inquire in fairly plain english -- you don't even need to use a full sentence; eg, search on 'abbreviation' and 'DH' and 'DW' to come up with the apparent answers. I've long been familiar with 'dear wife' or 'darling daughter (DD).'
Then it throws me for a loop when a tow vehicle has dualies and is listed by the manufacturer as 'DW' (vs. 'SW' for single rear wheels).
There has been a thread on these forums where many abbreviations were summarized, but it also got a bit silly. How do you edit a thread to condense it just to the useful items? We all come from different levels of exposure to these things -- I've always seen a quick reply to anyone who asked, "Whassat?" IMO there are other topics I'd prefer to see 'sticky' in the 'About these forums' forum. I hope this helps -- people tell me to RTFQ before I think I know what the answer is.

... then, there's the technical differentiation that is made between acronyms and initialisms.
An acronym must be able to be pronounced such as LOL or IMHO. Initialisms, such as IIRC and IMNSHO, cannot really be pronounced.
However, what does it really matter if an abbreviation is also referred to as an acronym or an initialism?

W.H.E.W.!! U lost me, Brian.
PO = previous owner
IMO = in my opinion
(I know, I'm doing a little editing to fill in on the next post from Don)
If a good list is actually generated, putting it all in one post as a thread starter would get past the inevitable fluff that comes in later posts... okay, me included!

Abbr.
Here are some that were previously posted:
There are many acronyms or shorthand we all have begun to use, some are obvious, some are not. Some are misconstrued to mean something they do not mean. Here are the ones I know.
AS= Airstream
TT = Travel trailer
MH= Motorhome
LMAO= Laughing my A** off
ROFLMAO= Rolling on floor Laughing my A** Off
IMHO= In my honest opinion (I also like 'In my HUMBLE opinion'. -ed)
SOB= Some other brand, not an Airstream. This is the one that some people misconstrue.
These are but a few, but they are the ones I see being used the most on the forums.

How about BOLO, Be on the lookout (for other Airstreamers). Sorry, couldn't help myself. My job must be getting to me.

I mentioned this on another thread .. but it seems more appropriate here ...
Do a search for a dealer on Airstream's website ... if the dealer sells motorhomes, the product is listed as ... "MOHO".
BOLO for a MOHO.
