Reduce pump surging and noise. Helps a lot if you have a tankless water heater.
They can be put darn near anywhere you can find the space for it.

Hi

Has the OP put in a tankless water heater? Do they have a problem with pump noise? Have they observed a surge issue with their pump? The answer may be to just replace the pump .....

The gotcha with "put it anywhere" is that it depends a lot on the size of the pipes. Put it on the end of a long / thin pipe and it may not address the exact issue you happen to be trying to fix ...

Shurflo specifically says the OEM 4008 RV Revolution pump does not require an accumulator. If someone tries it though I'd be curious to see what it does.

I put my accumulator under the bathroom sink. I don’t have the same trailer, but I would assume it’s similar and would fit.

My accumulator is located beside the water pump under the floor of the wardrobe.

We found ourselves irrationally annoyed by the pump noise in our 2018 FC25FB. The Shurflow pump would do all its turning on and off and the solid pipes Airstream uses were happy to transmit that noise throughout the trailer. I threw the kitchen sink at it, so to speak, and now the noise is only about 25% of what it was. More of a humm.

1) Installed the Shurflow accumulator. Yeah, I know the pump manual says it doesn’t need one. Maybe not technically but the tank makes it much smoother when you turn on a faucet partially. Sometimes the pump won’t even kick on if you are just asking for a small amount of water. Ours is on the output of the pump below the closet.

2) Installed Shurflow’s silencing kit. These are really just flexible hoses and the required fittings. It prevents the pump vibration from being transferred to the rest of the trailer’s plumbing.

3) Put 1/2” foam pipe insulation around those flexible pipes. You don’t want them to come in direct contact with anything else as they do vibrate as the pump runs. They are absorbing that pulsing.

Total cost under $100. Time, 2-3 hours.

I installed a Shurflo 4008 a year ago. I ran it a first without the Shurflo accumulator. At small flows the pump would come on the off and the stream of water out the faucet would pulsate. After the accumulator installed the water comes out a constant flow no matter how small the flow. The pump would still come on and off but the flow at the faucet was constant, like a residential faucet. I like it.

Marketing nonsense. I added an accumulator to my 4008 and it works much better with the tank installed. Runs less frequently, quieter, and smooths out the flow.
