About had the hibbie, jibbies!!!

We camped out this last weekend at one of our local campgrounds and boy did I get a surprise. Friday night as I was fixen to light the campfire to my shock a true vintage unit pulled by, I almost passed out first time in our Airstream camping that I got to see a real vintage Airstream. Saturday morning the curosity got to me I just had to find out what year and model so I walked down to the campsite and the couple was just as nice as could be and asked if I would like to see inside (sure!!!) It was a 54 Overlander and the guy explained it was given to him, all original and just as cute as a bug.
They have been working on it for a few months and explained it was a work in progress. We talked for about 30 min. and I told him about the forums.

What a great thing to happen!!!

We saw lots of Airstreams last week too, but all were parked at the Airstream Park in Clear Lake, Minnesota. A couple old vintage ones there shined to perfection.

Somehow they just make your entire day a little brighter!!!

This happened to us in Glacier NP, Many Glacier Campground. A 60's Globe Trotter or Caravel (can't remember which) just begged for us to come up and talk. An older couple invited us in, said they "went out" 2 months every summer, mostly boondocking, talked about how they hiked all over Glacier--really minimalist campers; and then they wanted to come see our '95. Fun!

Warning a rant is a comin'

Over Labor Day weekend Mrs. Goincampin and I went on a 900 mile camping tour. A giant loop from Ca. To Az. and back. We saw 13 Airstreams parked and NONE on the road! So come on owners get off your behind and get on the road!!!

O.K. rant over. Thank you for letting me vent.

Agreed, things get a tad quieter and also some of the nice lakeside and oceanside spots become more readily available with the kids back in school. My wife is off to Scotland until Oct 1 and now that I'm totally dependant on her for doing the driving I won't be out camping (other than in my back yard) till she gets home. Sigh!
