A/S on House tour in St.Louis
OH GOD!!!!!ONE MORE THING ON MY PLATE........
I just got off the phone with the head of the neighborhood association. They caught wind of my airstreams, and since they were so impressed with my house that was on the tour last year, they want to feature the airstreams, and I think my garden.....
It's Sunday May 23, and I will be looking for all of the locals to hopefully bring your A/S by and we'll show them how awesome we really are. They are sending press releases out, and since A/S are so 'cool' these days, hopefully we'll get some coverage....
OK, I have to finish my Safari for the rally in June, I have to finish the 76 Overlander for sale, which may just wait until after the tour, pick up the new overlander, work (OK, so I only work 20 hrs a week...), sleep - no time for that, maybe eat, and get the backyard in order.....Wow, and I'm completely broke now too, since I had to borrow money for the new A/S
Hope the locals will participate, this could be a very exciting event. Or not. It's a small community that includes the Botanical Garden, and part of 'The Hill'. Incase you know St.Louis.
I'm totally psyched.....
Thanks Guys...
Ron

Ron,
Generally speaking when the Neighborhood Association calls about your Airstream it’s not such good news. Kudos to the "enlightened" folks in your area which make up this forward thinking association. No doubt you have set a precedence with your previous projects that have paved the way for your Airstream(s).
Now that this fantastic news has been made public you will need to carry the extra burden of setting an example for N.A.s around the nation. If your event goes well we can all point to it as an excellent example of how N.A.s and H.O.A.s can accommodate, heck even celebrate Airstream owners and their “cool” vacation homes on wheels.
Not that you didn’t already have enough pressure with a May 27th date, but the entire AirstreamForums community will be following your event with baited breath.
Heck, if it goes really well maybe everyone will want an Airstream in their yard! It might even be worth moving to St. Louis!

I Second That
All we have ever gotten from our HOA is grief! And we have only had our AS in the vicinity of our house a total of 2 weeks (when the lock got jammed). Nasty letters and a knock on the door to say a neighbor had COMPLAINED LOUD AND LONG about our trashing the appeal of the area! Got to move...

sound great! Hope they are not using the tour as a cover to really check out the inside! Just kidding...it may start a new thing for your neighborhood.

tincanluv,
We're not in St. Louis, but about 30 miles east. I know of the area you're referring to and DW Terri and I both think it would be great fun! We're looking forward to going. Maybe you could get the Gringo Jones place to setup some stuff to accessorize one of your Airstreams
Regards,
Dennis

Need some help ???
PM me...I might be able to help you either with the AS or the yard stuff. Sounds like a neat event.
Maybe we could hook your TT to the back of my MH for effect.

Excellent!!!! I am so psyched. Give me a couple of days to work out more details....The only problem is, Gringo Jones is the MORTAL enemy of the Bug Store. We;re friends with the bug store (it's the one RIGHT on the corner). Everyone gets them confused.
Anyway. Last year we accessorized the garden adn house with BugStore stuff (some of which accidentally never made it back LOL) and gave out coupons for the bugstore...WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE EXCLUSIVE FLAMINGOS THEY HAVE...I' will be showcasing them at the midwest rally...LOL ...Ken, the owner, wants me to bring some to sell at $125. each
anyway.
When registering for the house tour last year, they said, 'Oh, it will be nice to have a little two family flat on the house tour. we like variety' IN the MOST condescending voice. My house was one of the most popular (high drama) and everyone on the tour came back the night of, for a party in the backyard....

I love that area around the Botannical Gardens. Talk about charm and character-it oozes! Can only imagine the extra drama your Airstream projects are going to add!

It's funny, several years ago, before I bought my place, I had an apartment two streets over. My friend who worked and therefore had keys, and I drank a couple of bottles of wine, and headed over there around midnight. Let me tell you, there is nothing like being alone in the garden at night. I remember sitting by the bamboo, I said, I wish I could grow this where I live...
OH, right...I only live about 1000 feet from here. I am a volunteer, so I have a pass, and occasionally take a stroll through at night......IT's the most wonderful free get-a-way I could have.....

HEy there, just returned with Lance, yup, it has a name already. What an experience, driving that far for an Airstream that you aren't sure will make it home. I have a crazy week, but already have been sucked into this airstream House tour thing. So, I will get back to you soon, if you are still interested. I think it will be a blast.
Chat soon?!!!
