Steph: Susan and Gerry send their best wishes to Darol. We think of him often. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Glad to hear he is moving home. I hope we will get the chance to see him at an upcoming rally.

Thoughts and prayers

Darol has been a great help to me several times. He treated me like a good friend and I have never even met him. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers!

Just got this update from Butch & Beth:

Quote:
Yes Steph,I talk to him once or twice a week.He is making very slow progress, but it is progress.Still having to live in his parents house until he can kick the walker.Breaking that leg in the middle of it all was a set back he didn't need.He is hopeful that he can move back out into his trailer in a couple weeks,It's just out behind their house. His blood count is looking better.

Good news for all who follow this thread and wish Darrol the fullest recovery. Of course he wants to get back out into his Airstream! ...don't we all? His reason is special, though, and we hope he can be there soon. We know he will continue the good fight for health. All our best wishes...~G

I just gave Darol a call. He says he's feeling much better, except still waiting for that broken leg to heal up. He says he gets tired sometimes, but he feels pretty good. He sounded really good, pretty much like his old self. He says a recent blood test came back with no sign of leukemia, so that's really good news! He says he's not up to Trout Lake this year, but he wanted to send his hello along to all his friends on the forums

Thank you for your update Stephanie. Darol is often in my thoughts. I owe him another note so guess it is time to put pen to paper and get him up to date on my boring little piece of earth .

Take care,

Barry

Good idea Barry. He's stuck at home waiting for that leg to heal up, I'm sure he'd love to hear from you (or anyone who'd like to send him a hello).

I just got off the phone with Darol. He's still housebound while the doctors use him as a pincushion. Apparently he's going through another round of chemo. He says it's pretty dull sitting around, if you know Darol, he's one of those guys who never sat still before this happened! He doesn't even have internet access! I wish I'd had more to tell him about but we hadn't been camping this summer either since Trout Lake. He did get the big card everyone signed at TL and sent back with his nurse who came to visit at the rally.

So if anyone would like to send him a card or a note, I'm sure it would brighten his day.

Done & in tomorrow's mail. I like tales like this, with happy endings.

Darol - The very best of continuing good luck in your recovery. I look forward to meeting you one day, down the road.

Steph,

Good idea! I will be sure and send him a card right away! Anyone else out there care to send one as well? I am sure he would appreciate a note even if he doesn't know you! Darol is a great guy and has been a great Airstreamer!

He is having a pretty tough time with this battle and if you are at a loss of something to say, just tell him that you wish that tomorrow he has a good day!

Thanks Steph for the reminder!
