64 Safari

I'm considering buying a 1964 Safari that is mostly original except that the front window has been replaced by sheet alumunin with installed a/c. Owner has original window for re-installation. Any suggestions on what to look out for when I inspect the trailer tomorrow?

ddveaux,
Just buy it and figure out how to fix it later. There probably is help nearby. Just ask a friend. Expecailly if you can find one that has an Airstream. Remember, once you have the bug, there ain't no cure.

I'd check for water leaks or damage under front window area. How was the a/c braced? Check floor for firmness. Check all the appliances. Check to see if the arms on the axles are horizontal or point at a downward angle. Good Luck! keep us posted!

I say go for it if the price is right. What is the price by-the-way? Would love to hear more. Bob in N. Ohio,

First off, welcome to the forum ddveaux!

Here is a good resource for evaluating a prospective trailer:

Price vs Condition at RJ Dial's Vintage Airstream site.

Good luck with your inspection...let us all know how it goes!

You may want to try using the "post reply" button instead of the "new thread" button. It'll be easier to track your threads/questions & answers.
