According to my new version of 'Streets & Trips', I will be there at 3:04 pm on Monday.

Unless we get delayed at Dollywood.

For once, instead of being a day late, I was a week early. How did that happen?

Can't quite make it. The ice cream would melt before we get it home! Maybe one of these days! Good luck with the shop! Sounds like fun!

Richard, it's beginning to look like we won't make it this season (dangit, hopefully in the fall!). Too much going on. For those forum members who haven't been to Richard's place (a.k.a. Moonshine Junction in the "Bat Cave", North Carolina) you're missing one of life's great pleasures. All the sweet smells of spring, cool summers and fall is a season of a million colors. I would call it paradise, but I'd prob'ly get flamed for that. Suffice to say that the mountains of western North Carolina are probably our favorite place on earth (well, at least in this space-time continuum).

If you get the chance, stop by and see Richard, et al. It’ll be a great visit.

Jim and Susan,

I have also been to moonshine junction, and I agree with you. It is very beautiful. I think in a previous life, I must have lived in the NC mountains.
We were a week to early for the fudge and ice cream shop, so, Richard, the next time we come up, you owe me an ice cream cone. Besides, I want to spend more time in the store. I keep thinking of all the items I should have bought when we were there.
Marie

To misquote mastercard:
Fuel to and from Bat Cave: $312.82
3 nights campground fees: $80.00
4 days meals on the road: $110.00
Having a free Ice Cream cone with our Airstreaming friends: Priceless.

Richard,

We may be seeing Moonshine Junction this winter, maybe with the Toaster in tow (all refurbed)! Maybe we can get you out for a bit of a hike... I can even tell you about my search for Cold Mountain six or so years ago (turns out the only person in the area who had ever read the book was a lady in the trailer park down the road, everyone else thought its only significance a plane crash in the 20s). And by the looks of your website, I just bet your wife might just enjoy joining me on a trip to Waechter's Silk Shop!

Well, we made it to Bat Cave, but Moonshine Junction was all shut up. I guess it didn't help that we were five hours late. Just couldn't tear her away from Dollywood.

We spent the night at the Riverside Cottages down the hill. Nice nice accomodations, very rustic. Had dinner at Gennie's, and Breakfast at Childs Corner.

Hickory Nut Gorge. . . . not to be missed!
