30" Classic

Was going to get a Safari 25 because my tow vehicle was maxed out at 6300#. I just got a new Duramax so now I am not limited by weight just $. Love the new 30"Classic but too much $, does anyone know when that model was started? Also, when did A/S move to widebody TT's? Any other thoughts out there about what years and models that require extra caution when purchasing? I really don't want to go much over 30'.

I believe 1996 was first year of wide body.

Wider body?? That would have been real handy on my last trip down the regional freeway that has been under construction for the last 10 years. There is a part several miles long where they have skinnied the lanes down in between two prefab concrete walls, you know the feelin' sucking it all in and holding your breath, hoping that 18 wheeler doesn't decide to come on around you. I think I will stick with my pre-widebody 74!! I can pull it as is with my stock power mirrors. Just my opinion.

I trust that, you've read, by now, the break-in recommendations?

When you bought your vehicle, did it come with the gauges needed to monitor the Tubro charger , tranny oil temp or exhaust temp.? If not, take a look at the Westach gauges, they're made right there in Ca. Westach Gauges

I'd recommand following the start up and, shut down procedures as well.

Having just gone thru my 1k mile break-in period and, making changes to the oil filter system.(Amsoil filter sys.) Amsoil products

I'm ready now to "hit the road" for that long drive down to Va Beach from NH.

About half way home from our first trip out camping, we had just pulled some hills on I71 North of Columbus, Ohio, I pulled into a rest area. I shot the transmission pan, (4L80E) with my Ray Tec infrared gun thermometer and it read 96 degrees F. Pan was luke warm to the touch. My GCVW is 12,000#.

The last few months of the 95 model year the 34' was a wide body and all classic became wide body in the 96 model year. There was a 30' model in the 94 and 95 model year. The 6" extra width makes a big difference in the interior but no difference when towing.
