2016 - The Road to Nowhere

Would you believe the FaN still has not been dewinterized??

I am now asking, what's the point of doing it now? Then I try to convince myself that I should have it done and hit the road for a few short days. "It will be worth it."

Then this cuts in again.....

Has anyone else had an "off" year like this?

Did it promote the idea of perhaps selling, or was the reverse true? You made a deep commitment to get out more next year?

Head south young lady. The Albuquerque balloon festival starts Saturday October 1. Make sure you stop at the Redwoods, San francisco and Yosemite on the way down.

Sounds like a great trip, but too many miles and too little time.

Bucket list.

If you have no time, then why did you buy it?

Did you have time then, but your priorities or life changed?

We make time for what we feel is important. If you have no desire to plan a trip, then maybe it's time to move on. Personally, all I want to do is use mine more and more

Plan a trip near the ocean or river this fall with the changing leaves. Relax and have a nice cup of coffee at sunrise or a glass of wine at sunset. There must be a October festival somewhere near you. OMG a chocolate festival in Vancouver October 15 to November 10. A Pacific National Exhibition is going on till Sept 5. Vancouver film festival September 29 to October 14 Get out and play

I actually went looking for a new bed. I found it - inside an Airstream.

Somewhat.

I actually still use the FaN everyday. (Driveway woman cave and sleeping quarters).

I don't know why I started this thread. End of summer madness?

Anyway, am glad you have found purpose and direction with your Airstream.

Oh streamin. You are a sweetheart.

I have actually found a rescue beagle, but memories of the last one still linger - especially the Airstream trips. I think that had a lot to do with the dead travel year.

Will try to relax and enjoy life for life itself. Regardless.

Head down to Oregon and meet up with Maggie and Evelyn at the Shirley Valentine rally. Fine people, and Lily is a good dog too.

I wish them the time of their life. Unfortunately, I just cannot get away right now.
(am relocating my little food business).

Hi FaN,
You love your AS but are short on time like the rest of us that work so how about a weekend camping outing right where it is located now? Invite some friends & Family over for dinner & cook in the AS, have a fire, have a few folks stay over either in the AS, in their AS, or tent. Most friends just like to get together so have fun. Who knows this could be the beginning of an annual party at your place!

Yes...what everyone else said.

We all have bad years, for whatever reason.

Not to negate the importance of your bad year...but look up.

We love you, FaN.

You are a bright and shiny spot here, so don't forget that.

Maggie

Sometimes you just have to do it.. many times our farm life and spare cash limits our plans. What we do is just pin up and drive 3 miles to a creek in our pasture and spend the night.. just the upset from normal seems to awaken the brain,, body to tackle a other week.

It's kind of, well sort of, like buying a membership to a gym. I've done it, so have probably a lot of others. The day you sign up you are motivated and have visions of all the things a commitment to a gym will undoubtedly bring. Membership and attendance at gyms bumps up ahead of New Year's and then again ahead of the "hit the beach" season but then both quickly drop off.

Here's the thing - it's something you have to actually go do. I would tell myself each time I was leaving the gym that it was the best thing I had done that day but when I was going into the gym I was usually dragging myself in - it's hard to get out of a routine and go but once you do it's a great experience. We are headed out on our last Airstream trip of the year soon and there are at least 100 reasons that we could come up with in terms of why to not go. But we know once we are set up, cooking on an open fire, and swatting at bugs while watching a beautiful sunset and making new friends we'll be having a great time and will be very happy we went!

Don't stay - GO

Jane, thanks so much for that idea. It is a good one. Good times can be found as close as one's backyard!

Your star shines the brightest because when bad times hit....you kept on going.

Have a safe trip to and from SV. Look forward to your write-up and photos.

Love the vision of you camping by a creek in your own pasture.

You are so right. "Getting away" does not have to cost a lot of $ or time.

ha, ha. That is a great analogy. (the gym).

Okay. I'm going to "start pumping."

Hope that last Airstream trip of the year is another good one.

Some great words of wisdom and encouragement already shared. I too would encourage you to just get out and go, even if it is no further than your own backyard. How about moochdocking in a friends driveway overnight? How long does it take you to dewinterize and winterize? Do you really need to for a night or two? Even if you do, a little "me time" will reenergize you for the other demands in your life.

Just do it! You will be glad you did!

"To everything there is a season . . . "

Breathe and relax into your center.

No worries about staying home until you choose to go on a trip.

The next grand adventure may be here already, with patience as its theme?

Happy Trails!

"Moochdocking"? I'm not quite sure what that is, but it sounds awfully nice.

I think many women struggle with "me time." But...I'm going, dewinterized or not! All I need to do is take some gallon jugs full of water (stored in shower) for drinking, cooking, and sponge bathing.

Thank-you, NC.
