1976 International Land Yacht 31'

Well we picked up this beauty. The outside is in perfect condition other than the bottom pan on the front it has a few dings from rocks hitting it. The rear bumper needs straightened. We gutted the interior and are planning on ripping subfloor out. The back bedroom has alot of water damage from the back bumper im assuming.

Exterior pics. Needs to be cleaned polished and new silicone around windows and door and roof. We are going to replace seals on windows and doors as well.

A/C wasn't working. Found seized blower motor. Spun by hand and it started working. When first turned on it blew really cold then the compressor kicked off. I'm assuming from high head pressure so i cleaned out condenser with ac coil cleaner and also cleaned out evaporator coils and resealed everything and now its working like a charm. All pressures reading perfect. Not bad for r11. It was 90 degrees out side today and cooled camper off to 70 in about 30 to 45 mins.

Looks like a good project. Dont use silicone though, look in the exterior restoration for sealants to use.

Hi

You might consider replacing the LP tank on the right in the picture. My guess is that it will not pass re-certification

I will be curious to see what the inside of the walls looks like if you pull the inside skins. I bought an unvented heater and then was afraid to use it because of how much moisture it put into the interior. I was assuming that it would collect between the walls and cause mold and water damage just as if there were leaks. Shame because it provided a lot of comfort.

Hi

A kerosene, LP, or wood fired heater will put a *ton* of moisture into the space. An electric heater (if you have power) will do the same heating function, but not produce all the moisture.

What I did

To answer some questions. Mine is a twin bunk mid way with rear bath. Second I don't plan to boondocks very little so I went to the large blue store and purchased two 110 vote wall heater. I installed it in the cabinet right of the frig. The second under the sink in the bath. Since I'm usual on shore power it stays warm without using propane.Works well for me.
