We have been using the GPS trackers on boats for several years, very good idea.
Those were some determined thieves. Might be a good reason to not polish an older trailer. Very sorry to hear about that. Checking cameras in nearby towns sounds like a good idea also!

Somebody traveling down your road local or someone at the dealership knew it was there. To much planning went into the heist. Bet you it is within 10 miles of you.
So sorry for your loss. GPS tracker is going on our Cloud tomorrow.
Hope you are made whole very soon.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. If it was only there 9 days, then it may be someone local and may now be sitting on someone elses country lot. It might not turn up for years until someone tries to title it and get tags. Make sure you provide police with any pictures you have along with detailed description and VIN etc. Vin plates can be swapped, but, the legal number is stamped in the front tongue frame rails and that overrides the VIN.
I was on a caravan this fall boondocking and one of the younger couples who had installed a system with a cell phone link to keep track of their dogs. It was accessed with their phones and told them the GPS location and temperature inside the trailer so if they were out and the generator and AC quit they would know to go back. I wonder if that could be programmed to call you if the trailer moves and then give GPS info to track. You could also install a system like Lojack which is a theft deterrent system for tracking for cars.

Airstream Theft
A neighbor had their Airstream stolen from their driveway after months of construction work on their home. It was found in Riverside stripped and discarded. To be determined if insurance is going to total the rig.
It's one thing to plop your rig in a field, but it certainly is another when you take all those safety measures. I hate it for you. I detest people that take things that don't belong to them!

I checked out TrackR...had a slow frustrating exchange with their online support person (Pauline). My initial question was simply, can the TrackR device be set up to send an alert if the item to which it is attached has been moved? Never got a direct answer after several exchanges with Pauline. But short answer is the TrackR works on Bluetooth technology. It sends alerts to your smart phone. So once you get beyond about 100' you are not gonna get anything. Get back within 100' and press the locator button on your phone, it will return an alert signal. It will NOT send an alert if someone moves your item. If the thief takes your item (your trailer, for ex) and you are not within 100' when you attempt to find it, you are out of luck!@

WBCCI Numbers would help, but in time can be removed. If it is an old one it may show the number "ghosts" if removed. I have numbers on all four sides of my trailer, albeit 4" on the sides . That makes it easy to spot at rallies.
The best bet would be to place large numbers on the roof that could be spotted by drone, aircraft, or helicopter. Most thieves would not take the time to look on the roof for tell tale identification. Also, I had my local police etch all windows with the VIN, for free.
None of the are fool proof, but they will slow down the crooks.

My SPOT GPS device does not have that problem. It uses the GPS to detect ANY movement, and if movement is detected it sends a warning to all my e-mail accounts. It is super sensitive. Goes off in high wind situations.

There was quite a lot or rare musical equipment in it and I could give the Police the serial numbers. I scoured Ebay for that equipment while friends watched out for the trailer, but nothing popped up.
I have GPS tracker in the new unit. It is set up with a "GPS Fence" so that if it wanders more than 50 yards I get a text and calls with the coordinates every five minutes. I check in on the status online regularly just for reassurance.

What GPS tracker are you using for this?

I know how it feels to have something nice stolen. Commercial surveillance cameras are on a 90 day loop. Unfortunately it may be an acquaintance of yours. I've had a wife, girlfriend, and male friends steal from me. I can count on one hand, with three fingers removed, the people I trust...sad. I feel your pain Vashi.

Very sorry to hear that your trailer was stolen. I hope they are caught and you get it back soon.
I agree that the Spot Trace is the way to go. You can get them for $50 and then $99 per year for the service. Sends me an email everyday and a text letting me know the asset is where I left it, with a god map of where it is. Will also send a text and an email immediately when the unit is moved.
It works great, is super small, and can be hidden where people can not see it or know it is there. No one could find mine, unless they fore the unit apart. I know that people can steal anything, but we also use a wheel locking device called the Brahma Wheel lock.
Her is a link, I think it is another level of defense

You have my deepest sympathies. I hope you recover your Airstream quickly and there's no damage. I also hope that the leeches that stole it are recovered also, beaten severely about the head and shoulders.

I'm sorry to hear this. Horrible. I suggest posting it EVERYWHERE. Post to every group you belong to and ask them to repost. I've seen other rigs recovered this way. Good luck.

Like I always say
I have found that by going to groups which get out there and into all areas are the best source for "eyeballs." Put a reward, photo, poster, flyer out to your Postal Delivery, Post Offices, Meter Readers, Ag CO-OPs, etc. These Folks see behind trees, buildings and remote areas. Good luck!
