1950-1960 Airstream Folding Table

Does anyone have information on the Aluminum-base folding table used in some of the Airstreams back in the 50's and early 60's. I saw one 10 years ago but that is the only time I saw one. They were small, about 24x36 and could be used inside or out. Were they exclusive to Airsteram?

I've got one. There may be other designs out there. This is the only photo I have on my computer, I can take more when I'm home.

We had one in our '64 GlobeTrotter "Maxwell". I thought the design was ingenious...it could be set up either to dining height or cocktail table height and used inside the trailer or out.

Over the years, I have seen different variations of this table. I suspect, that each trailer length came with a slightly different table design/size. Alas, we sold the table with the trailer a couple of years ago...I kinda wish we would have kept it.

I'm pretty certain I have a picture - will post it if I can find it.

Here's the one that was in our '64 GlobeTrotter…the plastic edge trim was damaged, so we replaced it with a metal edge trim - otherwise, it was original.

Hi....saw that you had a listing a while back selling several folding tables that you had fabricated...would love one if you still have one available, or info on how I can get one! Thanks, Cathy

Hi Cathy, I do have a few of the tables left. One was sent a few months ago to Grass Valley, CA but I still have four. When I had a 1954 Flying Cloud about 12 years ago, I wanted a folding table and a friend had one and he allowed me to use it as a pattern. I sent it to an aircraft tubing bender and it was almost the same cost to me to have 6 sets made up as opposed to just one. With all my cost involved and using aircraft-grade aluminum tubing, they sell for $350 each for the base only. The tops that will be different for everyone are too heavy to ship and one can be made locally much less expensively. I am East TN and can ship it to you for about $30 UPS charges. If you are interested, let me know.

Hi...very interested, could you post a pic! I am actually traveling from Naples, Florida to Crossville, TN the weekend of May 17th, otherwise if you are too far from there, I would not be adverse to having it shipped.....This may be exactly what I am looking for...have a 64 GlobeTrotter with the end gaucho and side couch and no dining table! Thanks again! Cathy

We are in Dallas today and will be in Lubbock on the 17th for a granddaughter graduation. How long will you be in Crossville? You will most likely come right by our location in Sweetwater on your way up I-75 to I-40 and Crossville. We will be back on Tuesday or Wed. of the following week. I have all the parts but they are individually assembled which will take a day or so. Maybe you can stop on the way back to Naples. I have an I-phone so it will be easier for me to get your messages at jmwalden2000@yahoo.com . As far as tops go, they are a simple 24x36 piece of 3/4 material usually with a plastic laminate color that goes with the interior color of your unit.

We are back from Texas now and I have two tables ready to ship if you are still interested in one for your 64 Globe Trotter. The tops are too heavy to ship and can be usually be made by a local cabinet or laminate top shop. Get in touch with me about shipping and payment. Thanks
By the way, there are already photos at the top of this series of replys. My table base looks exactly like the original.
