Now I wish I had stopped last month when I was in Seary. I was visiting my mother for the day and just riding around town when we passed AoA. Would have been fun just to say hi and tell you how much I enjoy reading your funny and informative posts.

Hope you enjoy your new venture as much as you seem to enjoy these Silly Silver Suckers.

Having bought twice from Gene in one year I can truly vouch for the kind of guy he is. He treated me right when, at least in my opinion, a vendor wasn't. I echo everything said here.

Gene, best of luck in your new venture. If my memory serves correctly, you still own an AS (or at least half of one), does that mean you will remain in the family and show up at a rally once in a while?

Hey Greg,

I will remain part of the forums...I think I have some silver running through my veins now. The 75 model belongs to the store so I will have to find me something one day!

Thank you for everything over the past few years. It has been great getting to know you and Pat. Give her my best. Call me when you come to Searcy...you have my number!

Hi Gene,

We haven't been on forums for a couple of days and then we see this.

You will missed, but now you can attend more rallies hopefully. More dealers need to take a look at your and AoA work ethic. They could learn alot. How about you teach our government the same ethics. It needs to start somewhere. Good luck in all that you do.

Gene,

I just wanted to thank you again for your great kindness and assistance to us on our way out here when the trailer brakes went belly up. We still have our shirts and wear them proudly.

You will be missed at AoA. I hope you will continue to be a part of the forum.

Marie

PS I really like the shakes at Sonic.

You mean that can be done!

I have enjoyed your post as others have said they have and appreciate the info that you have shared with me. I always appreciated that you gave us the heads up on a lot of the happenings within the Airstream Co. Thanks.

Best of luck with Sonic. It's kind of like an Airstream in that the drive-in has a great place in history and Sonic is one of the few left. Really nostalgic. If you ever have reason to visit the Tyrone, GA restaurant, give me a shout and maybe we can finally meet.

Do you think Brad and I will still be able to come to Arkansas and still get to pester you???

We had such a good time meeting you and picking up the International from Airstream of Arkansas. You were always one to go above and beyond for any Airstreamer, customer or not, answers, shirts, brochures, extras. Your posts and generosities and good humor have always brightened a day and quickened a step. Don't you dare be a stranger! We all need a steady supply of Airhog.

Best of success. We know you will flourish wherever you're planted. And get them to give you that Airstream you were renovating. There ought to be special license for designers over owners, in mho...

Say it isn't so!

I can't believe it! I miss a few days on the forum, and this appears out-of-the-blue!

Gene, you clearly set the standard for what an Airstream dealer "should be." When we purchased our second new Airstream in less than a year, the transaction could not have been better. Our other visit for some minor repairs, and custom work was expertly handled. However, that visit would not have been possible without you pleading my case with the Mother Ship, rather than taking the party line.....for that, I am grateful. It didn't take long to find out that you were someone I could depend on to return my calls, or follow through with my (sometimes odd ball) requests. As 2Air stated.....the folks at Jackson Center should be falling all over themselves with enticements for you to stay onboard. Based on your professionalism, and personality, I am sure that you will be very successful in your new career path. I wish you the very best, and hope that you will stay in touch with the many of us that value your friendship.

I have to say that I was surprised, and amused, at your sense of humor.....the "Flamingo Bandit" wanted posters you had posted of me in the AoA dealership (I would have posted a scanned copy, but don't want to self-incriminate). Thankfully, the local Sheriff was busy and couldn't honor your request to have me arrested.

All the best to you and yours, my friend. Our door is always open to you.

Ron & Jennifer

Gene,
All I can say is that you help save our arses with the skylight at the Branson Raley a couple of years ago. Really appreciated y'all getting it & bringing it with you as we had some light showers the following day.

Found out you could also play the guitar - that was fun playin' together...

Didn't want to say anything then but did you ever go ahead and take those singing lessons?

Good luck at Sonic, Gene (BTW, their super sonic jalapeno burger with cheese is my fav!).

Sometimes you read a thread you wouldn't otherwise read because of the person who posted to it, and airhog1 you are someone whose posts I enjoy reading! So i am glad to hear that you are going to continue posting here.

good luck in your new career! i have changed career paths 3 times and i know it's really hard to leave something you are good at for something totally new. now i've found something that really feels right (although at first it didn't, it was really a struggle). Keep at it and if you miss your old life you will just have to get yourself an airstream!

best wishes,
redstart.

Hey gang,

Thanks for all the kind words from everyone!!! Chief, Craig, and Carol, it was a pleasure serving you all...it is folks like you that made this job so wonderful.

this thread is right at 1 year old.

and since it's now public knowledge it seems OK to put this here...

AoA in searcy is no longer a new a/s dealership.
________

my understanding is that every spring/summer the dealerships RE-sign documents with the mothership...

so it would seem THIS go round 1 side or the other opted out.

the searcy shop is still apparently selling other rv brands and vehicles and may still be providing service.

i have not been close enough to drop in and find out.

perhaps some razorback members HERE can get the 1st person info?
_________

this shop exploded onto the scene around 2003/4 and sold a bunch of streams...

they are a great bunch of people and provided excellent customer service.

i already miss them.
_________

the old line shop in stLOUie hated them doing business in their back yard.

so i suspect the BT group is smilin' now.

but BE CAREFUL what you hope for,

since the mothership may taketh away, but they ALSO giveth...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f44/...tml#post889018

____________

geno' is doing well, my last update has him...

rollin' in mustard

grillin' in the shade

totin' the taters

and chilli'n the dogs.

all while knockin' out a tune with the geetar...
__________

cheers

That's too bad about AOA. I wish them well.

I never used them for service but understand they did very good work.

All of the people I met there were nice and helpful but Gene was (is) exceptional.

Seems like they would have/want to change their name.

Isn't this the 2nd dealership in recent weeks to stop carrying Airstreams? Has JC overreached in their dealership agreements?
