White roof coating maintenance ????

I asked this question recently in an existing thread then I forgot where it was and can't find it. SOOooooo here goes, again. Is there any periodic maintenance that should be done on the roof with the white coating. Actually what is the coating ???? Is it paint ??? Now I really mean other than the obvious sealing the vents that is. Can you / should you wax the roof as we would do for the sides ??? My old trailer did not have the white coating and I eyeballed the seams and rivets and checked the vent stacks and all the caulking on the roof. Haven't been on the roof of my newer trailer though.
Does the roof coating deteriorate and need to be periodically re-done ??

Thanks all.

If it is the factory installed stuff I believe it is a high end baked on enamel that requires minimum care. Wash and wax occasionally shouldn't hurt it at all.

Thread 'reboot'....

The roof of our 1999 34' has nearly completely 'chalked' over. When checking around, I noticed 'silver' around the roof rivets... and some cracking of sealant.

So... to me, it is necessary and will need to do soon.

Now.. do I use the Rustoleum 'nano technology' spray or roll on which can coat the roof giving good water 'run off'? Or the 'roof cool' stuff the SOBs use?

I use a hose end mop, which removes the oxidized paint well. I don't wax the white..only the clear. There are threads that discuss the ceramic coatings (name escape me right now) which help (arguably) with sun/heat mitigation. I probably will go that route when I see silver bleeding through. Till then minimum of washing, no waxing.

Yes, that's the "better" of the ceramics....the other was Kool Seal, or something like that.

It was recommended to me at the factory to use an automotive paste wax on the white painted roof. Was told it would stop the white streaks from running down the sides after a rain. It is on my to do list.

thanks, y'all! I certainly agree, caring for the roof is a great idea... too late for ours, but, still, a great idea!

Ok, y'all..
Found this:
http://www.thortex.com/wp/wp-content...data-sheet.pdf

Looks very strong... maybe too strong to allow roof flex?

Here is a more extensive list.. and, yes, it is 2 Part epoxy based it appears..
3M Ceramic Enhanced Protective Coatings - Thortex | The Thortex Group

or

Chemical/Corrosion Resistant Coatings - Thortex | The Thortex Group

Also, there are other 'epoxy' based coatings which have different 'activators'.. Low VOC, Low Temp, Fast set, etc.. One I do not clearly comprehend is a 'water activator'... does that mean it hardens with contact to water?
