Roof inspection

Howdy!

I'm new to the Airstream world. Just purchased a 29' 1988 Excella 1000. It appears to be in great shape and everything works.

My question is I've noticed only a few places that have caulking over the door and window areas which seem to be in need in recaulking. What I have know clue of is how to excess the roof to check on the vents and other area that may need maintaining. All my previous experince has been with 5er's which could be excessed by walking on the roof. Not sure just how to do this on and Airstream, don't want to damage anything so asking for help from those that know.

First we have to know how much you weigh. If it is under 200 lbs. you can get on the roof by putting a cushioned ladder against the side, and have a crossbar attached to the ladder to support for it against the frames bows that make up the skeleton of the trailer. Then you can use a carpeted 2'X2' or 3'x3' 5/8" thick plywood panel to span the bows and crawl up on the roof. Some people like to build a scaffold to go over the trailer and work from that. Keep all weight off the unsupported aluminum sheeting and never venture onto the hemisphere ends.
