newbie questions on 1970- any help for dents

I have been shopping for an airstream for a few months. I have found a 1970 27' Overlander. The interior needs help but workable (hoping that musky smell will go away).

What really worries me is the dents in the front of the unit. One dent is a big dent. The second is Kinda ripply. Neither dent seems to be affecting the interior or leaking.

The guy is asking $3500. Is that reasonable? Are these dents able to be (cheaply) repaired? or should this be a pass?

I appreciate the thoughts/comments

That roof damage is extensive and very costly to repair. That trailer is only worth $1200 to $2500 and once you deduct the cost of the repairs he should pay you to take it. This one is a pass unless you want it as a parts trailer.

i would pass. for $3500 you can avoid this COSTLY repair and possible structural damage.

edit: just noticed youre in GA. i search southeat for AS's and they're ALL in Ga. you'll have no trouble finding a cheaper trailer in better condition. keep looking... you'll find 'er.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

Welcome to the forum. That's some expensive damage to have repaired and would most likely exceed the seller's asking price. Segments replacement isn't cheap and it is not project for the average DIY. $3,500 will likely get you more bang for your buck in today's market.

Good luck in your search,

Kevin

I guess that is one of the most attractive things about this AS is that it is here in Savannah.

Thanks everyone for the help. I think I will pass and keep looking!

Try searching jaxed or one of the other national search sites. There are sever listed in the southeast that may be of interest to you.

site mash : airstream : combined classified and auction listings

Best of luck,

Kevin
