Failing Roof Paint?

A recent thread touched on accessing/washing/waxing the roof. It triggered this question for me.

On my '98, I once had started washing the roof, but stopped when the sun came out and I was getting too hot. When I went back up, I noticed the shiny washed surface was appreciably cooler than the still dirty dull section. Since then, I've washed and waxed it at the beginning of each summer season, hoping to make life a little easier or my AC. Not really sure if it makes a difference, but the roof still looks as good a new.

Now I'm wondering if this maintenance effort has done anything to extend the life of my (factory) white painted roof. Can anyone report a failing paint job on (an un-garaged) rig of similar age?
