On our recent trip to Cranbrook, BC at the Elizabeth Lake RV Park: Steve and I drove to our campsite. As it happened, we drove on the little road between the back side of the office and the laundry building..wellllll...the tv made it through just fine, and as we pulled the safari through to make a left turn, I heard, or should I say we heard a big 'Clunk'!!!..Steve got out of the truck to see what might have caused the noise we heard!..the right bumper clipped a concrete step next to the office..the nice little curved area of the bumper straightened out almoss 90 degrees!..so he got back in the truck, drove to our site..he proceded to the back of the truck to get out his trusty tools, his wood splitting maul, and found a piece of 2x4...here's some pix of the bumper ..our next stop was to Calgary, Alberta, where we visited and stayed at our friends' property for 4 nites..in that time, our friend, who just happens to love fixing things, helped Steve spot weld the joint..some of the rivets fell off from underneath, so that was fixed too..we continued w/out any more bumper incident through Montana, Idaho, and Nevada..so now another new paint job, and we're good to 'go' again!!!...lesson learned ya think?..

Whewww, now I can quit holding my breath!
Well as it turns out, it could have been much worse. But that sound of metal bending or tearing is one to make you shudder. Glad it wasn't worse!

Funny things can happen in Creston, BC. We drove through there on Friday and stopped to eat as we headed back to Vancouver. When we got back in the car Donna noticed when she started that there was quite a bit of blue smoke coming from the back of her car. oops! I got out and could hear a whining noise - almost a harmonic sound. I called the dealer and he said to pull the dipstick part way out while it was making the sound and sure enough, it quite. Turns out the PCV was not working all of a sudden and with the BMW this is not just a simple replacement. So, we clothespinned the dipstick up to allow venting and finished the drive home. Used 1/2 quart of oil. The car was not making that sound when we pulled into the restaurant as I was out first while Donna re-parked the car. We'd had it fully serviced the week before so were a bit disappointed but stuff happens.

Fortunately, though, we did NOT have to pull out anything more than a clothespin to do our repairs to get home. The fix here happens tomorrow. We love that whole Creston valley area. Glad you had a great trip.

Hi Barry,

Glad you had a good experience w/only having to use a clothespin fix for the time being on your trip!!! btw, clothespins can come in handy: you can use them to keep the opened potato chips and snack bags closed!..also, you can use them inside your a/s to hold down towels on bars, curtains, even baking pans/fry pans from hitting up against the glass window oven doors by attaching a row of them on the oven rack they sit on..
