Someone hit the back of my AS while I was stopped at a red light...insurance will cover the repair, but I need parts:

-new rear bumper
-new hose compartment lid

Any ideas or suggestions where to buy the items above? Airstream dealer?

Thanks for the input.

Jason Sherman

You may not be able to get a new bumper, but from the looks of the photo a auto body shop with frame straightening equipment may be able to straighten it. You could also get a used bumper from a place like Colaw's in MO. That bumper fits a lot of 70s Airstreams

I think that the bumper can be straightened. This one may fit: Airstream Aluminum Bumper 410121 [410121] - $479.95 : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!

I have a pre-wide body NOS bumper aluminum bumper in storage. I you can't find what you need, or don't want to get yours straightened PM me if you're interested in the one I have.

If you can't find a lid go talk to a metal fabrication shop. They will have aluminum they could use, and use yours as a template for a new one. Im guessing that will be the cheapest route. Ive used them for backsplash for our trailer and inserts for our refrigerator doors. Good luck

Also if you want to try to straighten it, call a body shop and find out where they buy rechromed bumpers. Places like Keystone in MPLS MN. They straighten and rechrome used bumpers and may be able to just straighten and polish yours.

The bumpers for your trailer are still available for your trailer trough an Airstream Dealer. The Bumper lid was an aluminum extrusion with castings on the ends. These are no longer made, but a current style bumper lid can be used. Schu

Thanks...I found the bumper with little problem. Assuming the original hose/bumper compartment lid needs to be replaced with a current one, is there a specific year or model...or will any work. I found the part number for a 2005 international 28': 453497...it looks like different lengths use different part numbers for the lids. Here's a link:

Your trailer would have been a narrow body. You would need to measure your current trailer from outside of frame rail to outside of frame rail and then verify length of part you are ordering. The new trailers have 3 different widths.

I would try to keep original if possible.
