Underside protection in step area

I received my '69 Overland in partially-renovated condition. The fold out step is long gone (I'm assuming there was one since there appear to be the thing remains of brackets welded to the frame). And there is no belly wrap in the area directly under the door. Can anyone show me a detail pic of how this area is treated on a similar vintage trailer? I cannot imagine that the underside of the frame and floor is simply left open to the elements.

Don't have pictures, but a sheet of aluminum similar to belly pan material goes between frame and wood floor creating a water resistant top to the steep area. I am buying 5052 H32 in 0.032 tomorrow for just this purpose. I will be sealing this with Tempro 626 between the frame and the aluminum sheet to try to seal out moisture.
