Pan removal
OK- I still have not been able to drop the front section of the belly pan on my Bambi II. I see that the front section goes way up behind the actual front skin...and I am guessing is held with the solid rivet strips about 6 and 8" up on that front skin. My plan is to cut the belly pan aluminum below the front siding and just drop it that way. Center rivets are out. I need to repair the tongue metal (new metal stock ordered and friends with lots of fabrication experience being lined up)...but this pan construction is quite frustrating. It is pretty ugly metal, too, so I will fab up some new aluminum panels after the structural repairs are made to cover the cut seam I will be making. I will most likely clean out the rest of the insulation and droppings from above as I have some soft flooring as well.
Does this proposed cut in the pan material sound like a good alternative to ruining the solid rivets apparently holding the front of the material up?
