I gutted a 66 Overlander to replace the rear floor. I have new axles, all new wiring under, POR15 on the frame, and 2" rigid insulation under the floor. Inside I have the vinyl down and about ready for the tub and the rest of the interior. Is there any reason I cannot button up the bottom with the belly pan so I can tow the unit if I need to? The only thing I see that may need access from the bottom is to bolt the fridge in place, or am I missing something?

You can tow it without the bottom skins if you want.

The only thing I can see you are missing is that you don't want to have to remove the belly pan to remove the fridge. It should come in and out without having to go to that much work.

Button it up, you're good. (Sounds like you did a good job)

On edit: I am assuming that you have the plumbing under control.

I am reusing all of the abs drain pipes, but all new pex for the rest of the plumbing.

Can't think of a reason not to button the bottom up if you have the black tank in place. I did not remove the front belly pan and had no problem installing my new Dometic fridge.We used the Trade Wind several times as "an aluminum tent" as the work progressed on the inside. I think it motivated me to get everything finished and also gave us opportunities to really think through exactly how we wanted things on the inside (little things as we tried to keep the interior as close to new as we could). The very first trip as we lay on air mattress on the floor during an horrific thunderstorm we were quite happy, dry and glad the Kelty tent was as home.
