steps rusted out?

It must have had a bad leak for a long time and now the steps are shot. Has anyone replaced them? I am guessing I will need to do some frame work and the floor needs to be replaced, but the steps are my major concern.

Clay,
You may be able to find replacements steps and parts at Out Of Doors Mart or Inland RV. I got new step parts for our '87 from Out Of Doors Mart, but I am not real familiar with the steps on your Overlander. I do know they both will have the frame outriggers that you may need.

You will need a skilled welder. Some fabrication will be needed. Shouldn't cost too much if you look around. Lots of welding shops are not really busy because of the economy. I would take the floor out first, fix the step, then replace the floor. Much easier to do the frame repair if the wood is out. I had floor rot at the door of my 68 Trade Wind, it is common on this vintage AS. There are numerous threads on how to replace the floor. I suggest buying a couple of bags of the self tapping floor bolts from Vintage Tailer supply before you start your install.

Hey, Thanks. The floor out makes a lot of sense, It has to come out anyway. in the mean time I will call out of Doors Mart or vintage and see what replacing them takes. Were there ever electric steps on AS?

I think only on the motohomes, but there's always a first time for everything.

I have a switch/button by our sink that I can't figure out. I thought it may be for the steps. Clay C
