Step Support Bolts. . .

ON A RECENT TRIP TO THE TEXAS GULF COAST, WE HAD ONE OF THE FLUSH MOUNTED BOLTS (NOT SURE IF THEY ARE CALLED BOLTS) WORK LOOSE AND DROP OUT OF THE "DISAPPEARING" FOLD UP STEP SUPPORTS. THE BOLTS HAVE A HEX SHAPED INDENTION WHICH CALLS FOR AN ALLEN WRENCH. JUST THOUGHT I'D POST THIS AS A MAINTAINENCE HEADS-UP. THE BOLTS OBVIOUSLY NEED PERIODIC CHECKING AND TIGHTENING!

THERES A CURVED, SPRING WASHER THAT SHOULD HAVE HELD THE TWO PARTS TOGETHER; BUT SOMEHOW VIBRATED LOOSE. OUR LOCAL AIRSTREAM REPAIR SHOP, NORTH DALLAS RV, HAS THEM. . .I'M GOING SATURDAY TO GET ONE. EVERYTHING IS PRICEY WITH AIRSTREAMS! I REPLACED A HAIL DAMAGED PLASTIC SKYLIGHT DOME AT A COST OF $110.00. REPLACING TWO SIDE WINDOWS IN THE LAST TWO YEARS HAS COST A TOTAL OF ALMOST $500.00. . .AND THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING! LOST TWO 5 YEAR OLD TIRES ON OUR TRIP LAST WEEK. . .ALL FOUR NEEDED REPLACING ANYHOW (AGE); BUT I HAD HOPED TO GET ONE MORE TRIP OUT OF THEM. OH WELL!

well five year old tires is like playing russian roulet. on these hot roads and especially around dallas. last time i was in dallas ive never seen a road as bad as 35 south. im told they are fixing it now.
i dont think a spring will keep a bolt from falling out i need to look and see what that bolt looks like . lost mine in the dallas area. it has been a few yrs but i payed $10 for a replacement. at the airstream dealer in dallas but it isnt in dallas north dallas .lol
