Step repair screws for a 1976 Overlander

A screw pulled out on the stairs of our 1976 Overlander. I have posts about members replacing entire step assemblies, but has any one replaced the screws. I have attached a couple of photos. It looks live a very specialized part..
Who made these stairs for Airstream and are repair parts available?
Thanks!
(the screw that I am refering to is the upper one in the 1st photo and the only one in photo 2) I was abel to re-thread but not sure how long it will last.

Rivet Screw-it!

vajeep,

You can get those threaded fittings directly from Airstream. Call them (937) 596-6111 & they will fax you an exploded view diagram.

Decide which ones you need and order them. Don't choose too may though ... unless you have a huge credit line on your card.

The Airstream factory cannot sell parts to anyone, "unless" they are at the factory.

Some dealers stock the footstep parts, but you should select them from an exploded view.

We send that drawing ouyt on request, as it save considerable time.

Step Bolts

Do they break often?

I am getting old and would not like to fall. "Help I have fallen and I can't get up'.

Is there a inspection operation; steps wiggle, rattle or shake?

Arrow Whoops !

Sorry! Andy's right. I am only half right. (or is that half fast!)

I was at the factory when I bought my stuff ...

You can get an exploded view, then call your favorite Airstream dealer and give them the part numbers to order for you.

All you can do is look for broken parts and looseness as you try to wiggle the step sideways.

I believe out of doors mart used to have them. I saw them on their site maybe 3 months ago. I checked the website ( ODMRV.COM ), but didn't see any. Give them a call. maybe they can still locate them for you. 1-866-636-2267

Good luck.

Here's the link to Out of Doors Mart...Airstream Double Step

I recently replaced all our bolts, etc...real 'fun' to get it all apart, cleaned up and re-assembled...just take your time, put a few coins in the 'cuss' box before you start...

Step parts

The best way to order step parts, is to look in your service manual for the part numbers.

In the absence of that manual, you can request an "exploded view" of the step parts.

Should you wish to have that exploded view, be advised that it depends on what year trailer you have.

Make the year known to your dealer so they can send you the correct breakdown.

That saves time and avoids mistakes.

Our web site is a "sale list" only, and lists 5 percent of the Airstream parts that we have.

I need to replace the same bolt on my '73. It appears it can only be removed by taking out the three bolts that attach the step to the side frame. Not sure where to go from here, but I've gone as far as using an impact wrench with the appropriate allen head adapter. The allen head broke...the '73 bolt still stands strong!!! Does this thing have left hand threads?
