Step repair

We are new to the group, just bought a 79 Sovereign Center bath to match a 79 GMC 4 door pickup with self contained Camper shell (where we put the kids, works great, they have their stuff and a place to knap on day trips) We got a great deal on a well preserved AS, the only problem I cant figure out how to fix is the step catch seems to slip on one side, Can I fix it or do I need to replace. We will post a picture when we hook them up this spring.

I am not sure what the problem with yours is ,but I have helped fix several. On most either the tip of the catch is worn off { take it to a welding shop and have them build it back up for you} or the latch bar is bent or twisted { put it in a vise and straighten it}. Good luck
