Ideas for Steps

Our 'stream is parked for the summer at Minnesota Airstream Park, and the built-in steps just don't cut it for a summer of in and out. Was wondering what other Airstreamers have done in the form of moveable steps. We're looking for something lightweight and moveable, possibly with storage underneath or space for shoes to one side. Unless there's something manufactured out there that fits the bill we're assuming this will be a DIY project.

All photos, designs or suggestions would be appreciated.

Many years ago I had the same problem when the original step in my trailer had rusted away, & I had not found a replacement yet. I purchased a "tread plate" tool box from Lowes & removed the handle from the top, leaving me with a strong aluminum box that looked "step like". To add a bit of style, I buck riveted a 50's era Airstream nameplate on the front that I purchased at Vintage Trailer Supply. It has been very useful over the years, even after I installed a rebuilt vintage step.

Thanks for the feedback. Even if I elaborate (which my wife says I always do), these provide ideas (for elaboration).

Old Coca Cola wood crates are used by many owners.

Maybe 40 years ago, Andy, but today they are either rotted out, or jealously horded as antiques!

Exercise steps work great, and you can usually pick them up at flea markets and garage sells very cheap. They are usually larger then steps and more stable, and some are adjustable.

I just built a two-step with left over two-bys from a deck project. My main objective was a hand rail due to my 71 year old knees. Sal
