'70 Overlander Steps: step 2?

I've seen pictures of other units that have a second step that seems to fit into two square holes in the first step-ours didn't have it and we'd like to know if anyone knows if it's still available. It would make it a little easier for our kids to climb in! I'm guessing if it is available it'll be pricey.
Thanks.

You can get the bottom step and all of the parts for these units at "Out of Doors Mart" The part number for the bottom step is 410200. All the parts to assemble it are available as well. Go to the parts section, look for "steps".

Don't think that's the one they are looking for (or I'm missing it on the ODM site). The 70/71 step has two square holes, one on each side of the top step and the bottom step has arms that slip into them. We still have ours. I wonder if the 72 and later design could be changed out with the older model - maybe a phone call to Out of Doors Mart to ask or check with a salvage dealer....

Here is a visual comparison. The one on the bottom is on my '74 Argosy 26'. I think you are right, the new one looks wider to me. But maybe it's just the angle of the photo. Is the '70 model different from this.

The bottom step for a 69 and 70 AS does not have those hinges. the bottom step mount is the two square holes on the top step. I have only seen one. I have not seen anywhere where you can purchase it.here are some pics http://cdn.airforums.com/forums/atta...2&d=1105990010

Fab shop

That looks pretty simple. It could be fabricated at any welding shop, probably for less than you would pay for the bottom step on mine which is right at $100.00

Thanks for all the help. The pics from the forums of the square peg fitting is definately the one we would have had originally. I'll keep searching as we would ideally like to have an original some day, in the mean time we can solve this really inexpensively by bringing along a folding step stool if necessary. I think they even make a folding aluminum one.
