What to use to reinstall black trim?

The black belt line trim on our '96 34' has let go in several spots.
This type of black trim appears to have been glued on, as the trim doesn't have an insert lip - just a tight fit in the aluminum channel.

Based on what's left of the glue residue, it looks like the factory used contact cement to affix this trim.

After we clean up the dirt, moss & leftover adhesive, what's the best way to reattach this black trim?

Thanks!

3M Double Sided Tape

Whitelite,
You should probably be able to go to any autoparts store and get some 3M double sided tape for afixing the rub strim to the trim. I had to replace some of the "chromed" rub strips on our '06 because the "chrome" was bubbling and that was what was on the new trim. Make sure it is where you want it because the stuff sticks like super glue once it touches something.

After the old adhesive is removed, you can use 3M8008, super weatherstrip adhesive.

It's the best adhesive to hold window and door gaskets in place and would do the same job with your insert.

Contact cement is not intended to be used on any exterior parts.

I'm with Andy on this. It even comes in black.
