What to use?

Is it safe to use clay bars on the newer finish? How about Klasse all in one and Klasse high gloss sealant glaze? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Greetings VWill,

I have some great stuff for waxing cars but when it came to cleaning the AS, nothing seemed to work that well from those things. I do not know your brands. The clay bar might work. I started by reading up on what the material was on the finish. Think of it as semi-hard plastic (my opinion) I used some counter products like NuFinish Scratch Doctor, Meguiar's PlastiX and then Glare Microfinish and this other stuff that supposedly keeps dirt from sticking to the finish (got the last two from Airstream at a rally) I also use Bartenders Friend powder for the rock guards but wipe lightly in a straight motion. That REALLY cleans those up. I share this because so many products were ineffective on the stream.

Treat the surface like it is clear coat... Soft clear coat like on a car.

Any abrasive removes material. If "swirls"' in the coating are your target, use the clay bar with lots of water. Test in "safe" place like behind the front rock shields first.

Remember, this is mere human advice. Go carefully.

Thanks for the advice/words of caution. I will proceed carefully. I would like to use a sealant for greater durability.

Wow! Bar Keepers Friend is amazing for the stainless rock guards. I would never have thought to use it on the Airstream. I use it regularly in the kitchen but never made the connection. Thanks

I found WD40 to be the best cleaner for the rock guards. Seems bugs and tar come off more easily after using it a few times. For regular washing the Glare works well.
