What paint to use on roof ?

Hi ,
I would like to paint the center section of my 1991 34ft trailer with white paint so it will keep the temps a little cooler.I have seen some other older trailers with there roofs painted white and they did not look bad. What would be a good choice Kool Seal Elastoramic white or a Household exterior white paint ? Also would the white paint cause chaulking or white streaking after a rain ? Thanks for the info. Davis

I used Kool-Seal white on our Argosy with good results, but the white stuff it is made with will chalk down the sides of your coach, although not as bad as house paint. You will have to wash the trailer more frequently, but it does help. There is a thread that should be kicking around here, about white roofs on Airstreams. A forum search should find it for you.
Good luck with it.

The new trailers come with white roof too!

To paint yours I would follow the steps in painting an aluminum airplane. Strip off the clear, etch, alodine, zinc-chromate primer, and apply Dupont Imron single stage white paint.

Davis,
I used Interlux Brightside Blu-Glo White. The color is great and it brushes on with almost no brush marks. I used the roll & tip method which is explained on the Interlux web site. I used 1qt. for a 25 foot trailer.
