Question What Is This Under My Awning?

While climbing on top of my Airstream to lube the vent seals, I spotted these two grimy areas just under the awning at both the front and back of the trailer. There is a heavy plastic sheet that appears to be glued to the skin under the awning, and at the front and back edge it has come loose letting dirt collect under it.

Should I cut away the loose areas? Just clean out the dirt? Re-glue the plastic down after cleaning, and with what?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Randy

hi randy

that's a small section of 3m scotchcal paint protection film...

it really shouldn't be re-guled.

it' is there to provide a small abrasion/protection area, from the zipdee roller ENDCAPS...

so the awning doesn't rub on the skin...

you can clean under it with soap/water or use compressed air to blow out the grit.

consider trimming it back close to the remaining tightly stuck portion...

and then adding a small patch of new in it's place...

but ONLY if the awning/endcaps have potential to touch in that area.

otherwise just trim it back, clean and wax the area....

here is a link to the stuff, some auto parts stores carry small sections of it...

3m scotchcal

so do some window/auto tinting shops...

you can also buy kits with this product on ebay...

cheers
