Trident Protection Systems

In the process of purchasing a new 23FB, and one of the add-ons the dealer is offering is to treat the outside and inside with the "Appearance Protection Line" from Trident Protection Systems.

Claim is that it will offer protection from all environmental sources, and will prevent the dreaded filliform.

Does anyone have any experience with this product?

web site is: www/tridentprotectionsystems.com

Did not get a price yet.

thanks for any responses.

Wait until you get the price...I'm thinking you're going to have a bit of sticker shock. The last price I saw was around $3,500. I'm not sure what bad a$$ coating they will put on the exterior but if it's Teflon based it may cause problems later on applying sealants.

Personally some leatherette protectant/conditioner, Scotchguard spray for fabric and waxing the outside every once in a while is a whole lot less expensive. Also it will keep you occupied and in shape. This yearly exercise will also keep you apprised of your trailers condition and possible problems.

Cheers
Tony

Thanks Tony,
I may ask for a quote for just the outside. This must be an AS approved process if it is being offered by an AS dealer. Definitely more research is needed and as you said, can just default to Wabinizer spa treatment.

I answered a similar question a few daze ago

In my experience the only one that will be satisfied with the application of after-market 'protection' is the person who sold it.

Remember, Alcoa has already applied a coating during the manufacturing process.

But wasn't one of the issues with the edge on the panels being exposed sine they did not have the clear coat after being cut? The fillaform would get in between the CC and the panel. My the coating could be a way of sealing it.

This thread covers routine inspection and preventive maintenance using procedures and products by folks who actually own and take good care of their Airstreams. Inexpensive and not difficult.

Filiform may start on any compromised edge, but by no means on all
edges.
Most all of the areas on our Classic presented themselves in the first 5 years of use and were cleaned and sealed as they occurred.
Very few new outbreaks since.
Regular washing and sealing,(Griot's sealer), has been enough to prevent further outbreaks, and maintain the original areas.

I'm pleased with how our Classic has held up with the procedure I've been using.

I believe the maintenance procedure you come up with will be more effective than any blanket solution sold by the dealer.

JMO....

Has anyone ever painted an airstream an automotive color such as white?
