There are many on the forums, myself included, that consider stuff like that to be a major way for a dealer to make a much bigger profit. It is far cheaper to put that money in the bank, along with the cost of a so-called extended warranty, and do your own maintenance, including washing and waxing the Airstream once or twice a year.
It's the same game played by new car dealers, with the same result. They make lots of money, and the fine print keeps them from spending any of it on your issues.
The only vehicles I have ever bought an extended warrant on was our Toyota Prius (two of them) because just the battery pack, if it fails early, is over $8,000. The warranty was only $500 for 10 years and 100,000 miles. Cheap enough.
For an Airstream, not worth it. That's what comp and collision insurance with an agreed value is for.
The clearcoat on a modern airstream is basically permanent, and an expensive dealer wax job is simply not worth the money, IMHO
