Stripping Clearcoat for Aluminum Mag wheels?

Has anybody stripped the clearcoat off of their mags? If so what did you use? What did you use to clearcoat the bare polished aluminum once it was stripped?

You can use a good paint stripper for your task.

One of the good brands is Aircraft Stripper. Check with an industrial paint supplier.

Clearcoating the mags can be done 2 ways. The first and chea[est is the clearcoat that Airstream has in spray cans.

The second, is the bulk clearcoat that Airstream has, but it's a 2 part mixture. I don't think is available in anything but gallon cans. You would need the special additive to make the bulk material work correctly.

A few dealers can help you.

You may have a problem if you deal with a US dealer due to shipping flamable materials accross the border, unless you have a friend in the US that you could pick it up from.
