Question Serial # Plaque / Holes ?

Hello,

We're the proud new owners of a 1954 Flying Cloud ? I will post some pics in the near future in hopes to accuratly I.D. it. Titled as a 54 but interior / windows match 53.

The bad news. The previous owner installed a hasp style paddle lock on the door. And drilled thru the serial # plate ! Yikes ! Anywhere else would have been better. Anyone know of a reproduction plate for the Calif. 54 model ? Can it possibly be tig welded by an expert ? And how about the door, should the skin just be replaced ?

And lastly, best place to buy reproduction side marker lights etc. I'm sure I'll have many more questions in the future. Thanks for all your help.

Talking I know this trailer!!!

Hi Jesse!
I guess we inherited this problem!
I purchased a plaque from airstreamdreams.com but it turned out to be a bit large....8x4! It is the nice silver/blue with a spot to have it engraved with the seriel number. Still looking for the more original type.

Cool 'Original' is in the eye of the beholder...

It depends on the year...the one offered by AirstreamDreams is very close to the original one we have on our '64.

We had a similar issue with a dealer installed advertising plate right next to the door. I had an etched stainless plate made that same size - you can reuse the holes. You could put anything on the plate you wish .... say "donations glady accepted" or "wipe your feet" or ... ?
